Genuine question…it seems generally known that malicious groups (both state entities or hackers) have spent considerable effort and resources hoarding day zero exploits. As soon as 10 is out of LTS in October, those groups start turning on their scripts, right?
To me it seems not only possible but nearly certain that there’ll be a significant malware/botnet attack in Q4 across Windows 10 devices. Am I missing something?
And with these moronic tarriffs, any company who isn’t actively working on upgrading right now is pretty well hosed.

But that’s like saying Trump “has to stop.” I want him to, and I want MS and other software companies to quit churning their products just to keep selling new versions of them. But 20 years ago they had to stop, and they didn’t, and they probably still won’t. The answer isn’t with them it’s with us - we “have to” find alternatives like Linux. Or not. You can complain about the lack of appealing options on whatever menu is already in front of you, or use available solutions that take a bit more effort. It’s up to you.

No they really aren’t. Maybe for the average tech enthusiast consumer they are, but the large majority of their customers is actually huge businesses that completely rely on Windows and will absolutely upgrade to Win11. Besides that the average consumer is not informed enough, nor cares to be, to switch to anything else. They will either continue to run unsecured windows 10, or will upgrade to 11 when some guy at best buy explains they have to. Those of us who are savvy enough will switch to linux but for microsoft that is a drop in the bucket, not a major loss at all.
We don’t need this self defeatist attitude as it’s plain wrong. People are switching to Linux albeit glacially at the moment.
I switched to linux. I’m all for it and very much encourage people to do so. I’m loving the push for gaming support too, so I do hope there’s progress there. But ignoring the install base of international corporations is just lying to yourself. Find a significant company that’s going to switch all their business PCs to Linux because of Win11 and I will gladly eat my words.
While it’s good you personally use Linux, It would definitely help out the movement more if you were more verbally encouraging towards it.
We don’t need corporations to do the right thing we need the everyday people to do so to greatly increase the demand for Linux support.
It doesn’t need to stop, it needs to speed up and spur the exit. Everything’s crashing rn because of the politics, they can call themselves a martyr of the times if they want.
Eventually people will leave.

People who just use a web browser can easily move over to linux.
The main problem is the “power user” types who have built up years of windows specific knowledge and don’t want to learn a new system and don’t want their knowledge to become useless. These are the people that normies go to for advice on computer related questions and they aren’t going to suggest moving over to linux even if someone only uses their computer for web browsing.
A complete disaster, just the majority because all the earlier versions got dropped

The evidence shows otherwise as the marketshare of Linux increases every year.
I installed the IOT edition which doesn’t require a Microsoft account and has zero ads as far as I can tell. Enjoy it while it lasts!
