A U.S. citizen on her way to a medical appointment in Minneapolis was dragged out of her car and detained by immigration officers, according to a statement released by the woman on Thursday, after a video of her arrest drew millions of views on social media.

Aliya Rahman said she was brought to a detention centre where she was denied medical care and lost consciousness. The Department of Homeland Security said she was an agitator who was obstructing ICE agents conducting arrests in the area.

That video is the latest in a deluge of online content that documents an intensifying immigration crackdown across the midwestern city, as thousands of federal agents make arrests amid protests against what local officials have likened to a “federal invasion.”

Rahman says she was on her way to a routine appointment at the Traumatic Brain Injury Center when she encountered federal immigration agents at an intersection. Video appears to show agents shouting commands over a cacophony of whistles, car horns and screams from protesters.

That’s disturbing. If a U.S. citizen can be treated like that, it raises serious questions about due process, accountability, and how often this kind of mistake happens. People deserve answers, not silence.

The images speak for themselves, but every boot-sniffing, spineless suburbanite who conflates what ICE is doing with "law enforcement" and “protection” from “criminals” should take a good hard look at exactly where that leads. Every time.

It’s this right here. Uniformed thugs with rifles getting rid of State-declared “undesirables.”

“But they wouldn’t come after me.” They tell themselves, as that old quote goes.

The cops are doing this too, to the surprise of nobody. I guess terrorism isn’t against the law anymore, as long as you’ve got a uniform and an acronym, apparently.

The fact anybody’s okay with ANYBODY being treated like this on their own soil is a mirror into the rotten depravity that’s taken root in their souls.

200 NGOs Oppose Biden’s Historic Expansion of ICE Detention System: “Detention should not be about politics.”

ICE records show Biden admin plans could give Trump a head start on deportations

President Biden Signs Anti-Immigrant Spending Bill Reaching Trump-Era Highs

Biden’s Emergency Funding Proposal Seeks $14 Billion for Immigration System From Congress

Tom Homan - Border Czar was originally appointed by Obama

Keep in mind, these democrat moves to bolster ICE were happening while the right was blatantly telegraphing their moves to immediately weaponize ICE once they took power. Project 2025 came out and promised to use ICE to plunder and abuse Americans. Biden and team then spent the next 4 years not only failing to prepare for Trump, but preemptively strengthening the mechanisms Trump would eventually use to carry out project 2025. The democrats are controlled opposition.

Sure, maybe we wouldnt be seeing this intense of immigration enforcement if Kamala were in charge, but if she were, she’d be working behind the scenes to ensure the right had all the tools they needed when the time was right.

The democrats are controlled opposition and the American electoral system is kabuki theater. The fascist descent is the only logical conclusion to the American political experiment- which was predicated on the wholesale genocide of Native American Indians and quickly pivoted to enslaving an entire continent.

You realize what the only logical conclusion to your “pragmatic liberal utilitarianism” is, right? I give it 4 years before youre chiding leftists for not voting for dem candidate Ted Cruz as he campaigns against republican candidate Mecha Hitler. Youll still see nothing wrong with that. You will sell out the victims of American Imperialism to buy yourself 4 more years of political waffling - just as you did with Palestinians.

Yeah there were a lot of bot/troll accounts saying that stuff. The fact it disappeared after the election proves the point: nobody actually believes that. If somebody dresses up as a sasquatch and runs through the woods it doesn’t mean sasquatches are real even though it may be followed by credible accounts and videos of a sasquatch running through the woods.

Elections are when there’s a heavy financial incentive for some folks to make bad faith arguments to everyone they can.

I don’t think I’ve actually seen that in the wild. Usually what I see is either “voting is insufficient” as in, “historically voting has not ended a dictator’s career” or just badly disguised bad faith/bot stuff often from accounts banned before I read their comments.

I feel like “voting is wrong” is what a group of the latter (bot farmers/trolls) want folks to believe is a real opinion here but I haven’t seen anyone make that argument in good faith. I’ve only ever seen it made secondhand in a way that makes it about as credible as a sasquatch sighting (which there 100% are people dressing up as the sasquatch to fuck with people, so real sasquatch sightings =/= real sasquatches existing)

Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 and 2020 and still was below 50% in 2024 AND his policies never got support from a majority ever when presented without a name.

There has never been a majority who has liked anything he had to offer.

This was a propaganda war from racist wealthy assholes who bought out a ton of the companies controlling the media landscape. They exploited bullshit election rules and lied and bribed and extorted to suppress resistance, all just so they could be assholes in public without being called in it.

Media helped Trump steal credit for things others did, instill fear of things his opponents never would do, etc. Nobody lost to Trump by being a worse candidate, but because media refused to be honest and people believed the lies

If I’m knowledgeable about more obscure concepts like Greater Germany or the politics of the Anglophone world, it’s a stretch that I don’t know that the Civil War was, according to the confederacy, entirely about slavery.

So ICE have murdered one person, shot another, thrown a flash bang and tear gas into a car full of children who then had to be hospitalized, attacked high schools where they beat staff and gassed students, gassed protestors, gone door to door breaking into houses and dragging out the occupants to be disappeared, pointed guns directly at citizens’ heads… and that’s just what one Canadian has seen from Minneapolis in the last few days. I have friends in Minneapolis and it pains me to see that great city being terrorized daily by this fascist government.

They murdered way more than that, no one gave a shit about the murders until it happened to a white lady. And really they been murdering for years. They just do the standard shithead “I’m technically within the letter of the rules so you can’t tell on me” shit where they game the system (that they set up).

Case in point: the tactic used by the guy who shot the white lady was not one of the recent hires. He’d been with ice for years and before that with border patrol. So why is he stepping in front of cars, especially when apparently he had an incident stepping behind a car somewhat recently that almost caused him grave injury? Oh and also it’s against DHS policy for agents to stand in front of, behind, or reach into vehicles:

People make mistakes but surely someone went over policy while debriefing the incident where he got dragged by a car or whatever. So why’d he do it again? Oh probably because border patrol does it regularly because if they purposely put themselves in danger it gives them an excuse to use lethal force with plausible deniability and basically never gets looked into because the overwhelming majority of the US populace couldn’t give a single shit about brown people being murdered:

Also note that in this internal review cbp points out what many have pointed out in the aftermath of this: a bullet won’t stop a car, shooting at a car runs a tremendous risk of hitting other people as it’s likely to be in a populated area, and even if you’re successful in incapacitating or killing the driver you’ve basically just created a several thousand pound missile that’s still barreling towards you (and others) with no feasible way to stop safely (which is exactly what happened here. Also note this review finds 15 cases of discharge, several of which resulted in occupants being struck.

This shit has been going on for ages and the apathy towards it in the past is part of what created the conditions for it. It’s escalating, for sure, but it’s not new at all

Lots of people cared, the media just barely touched it so most people didn’t know. I do appreciate you spreading the information because more people do need to learn about it.

Abolish DHS/ICE immediately and lock up anyone even remotely related. And probably hang Kristy Gnome.

They never tell the truth. Everyone they kidnap and assault is protester in their mind.

      I agree.

Maybe another No Kings rally where we have even more cleverly written signs and chants that rhyme will get them to stop.

Maybe hundreds more people recording on the sidelines from their cell phones instead of directly intervening while people are begging for their lives as they are ripped from their cars should do the trick.

Maybe waggling our middle fingers impotently at them while they detain Native Americans and brown-skinned citizens doing routine shopping or as the gestapo goes door-to-door will deter them.

You see. This is the problem. If I did anything all you would do is cheer from the sidelines. No one is willing to risk their lives for this bullshit since there will be no one brave to back them up, and so nothing will happen.

All I see is some keyboard warrior encouraging others to do violence while sitting at home god knows where in the world. You’re encouraging worse than doing nothing.

              Nope.

The violent rhetoric needs to stop. You are just coming in here with bad faith arguments and imaginary conversations conjured up in your smooth brain mind.

I’m not saying to commit violence you fucking dolt; brandishing firearms is a deterrence, just like how every God damned country now is unfortunately armed with nukes. No one is going to invade North Korea. No ICE cop is going to commit suicide by attacking a group of armed peaceful protesters.

Fuck you and your pacifist bullshit, limp-dick cowardice. This is why we are all here in the first place, because we never punish Nazi/Christian-fascist sympathizers with the very same aggressive rhetoric they use everyday against us.

You idiots still think the Biden-era mealy-mouthed reach-over-the-aisle both sides meet each other, getting along skipping together through a flower field bullshit still works, and it needs to die.
