Why do people feel the knee-jerk need to apologize for what is popular, sensible, evidenced based policy? Nobody is blowing up a plane with a bottle of water. Everyone is at risk of communicable disease, particularly during a high point in the flu season.

Some smart person at the airlines finally jumped on their chance to ban nail clippers in airports and planes. The real reason is because nasty people would clip their nails in the airport and on planes.
