Amodei is trying to anthropomorphize their service (to play into the notion of AI being completely revolutionary) in order to keep the grift going.
Don’t forget OpenAI constantly saying “We had an AI SO POWERFUL that it can be very dangerous!!! And no you can’t see it yet.”

Bing / chatgpt already does this. I’ve seen it high tail out of tasks or totally lie that it’s still working on something when it obviously isn’t at all.
It seems that they think that if they scream “AI” loud enough and pretend it is sentient no one will know that most of the world working towards automated intelligence are now aiming for an Intelligent Agent, or “IA”, and the general census seems to be IA wont be achievable with current AI models.
Also “IA” wouldn’t need a button. It would just dip.
