After daily driving Trinity for since forever i recently felt the urge to try something more… basic.
- Motif Window Manger
- Firefox with “IRIXesqe” theme
- Xfe filemanager
- xclock, xbiff (i am using a fetchmail -> procmail -> mutt setup)
- Bog standard xterm
Everything is as lightweight as it gets to keep things “snappy”.
Me: I don’t need to distrohop, I don’t need to distrohop, I shouldn’t distrohop
Me 2 minutes later:
Hmmm… looks like there is something wrong with the image… nothing to see
It’s an image of D4C (the JoJo stand)
ItWorksOnMyMachine™ moment
How was tritinity?
A really nice and snappy desktop environment, especially for people like me who work with relatively old hardware. It preserves the spirit of the pre-Plasma KDE pretty well.
Is it lighter than xfce?
Well, i have no real metering regarding memory usage or other things but i personaly would not say that there is much of a difference in “snappiness”. Trinity looks better though…
