They filed the suit in Adams County court in Illinois, a heavily Republican, rural part of the Democratic-led state and several hours away from Chicago, where the Texas lawmakers have been camped out. It seeks an emergency court order to find 33 Democratic Texas House members in contempt for disobeying civil warrants issued by the Texas House earlier this week.
The warrants, issued by Burrows on Monday, allow state law enforcement to arrest and escort missing members back to the House chamber but are only enforceable in Texas. The plaintiff in Thursday’s suit is the Texas House of Representatives.

Couldn’t they just move to a different county?
They’re not in Adams County to begin with. Texas just chose it because it’s a Republican-heavy county, so the courts are more likely to rule in their favor.
