TL;DW:
- New SCL with Benoit about long term persistence coming in the near future.
- Work on fixing freight elevators started months ago, still in progress.
- So far they found root causes of 44 individual issues with FEs, 20 of them being of blocker or critical priority.
- Resource Drive event was not intended as a “clever way to stress test the elevators to reveal the bugs”, they simply underestimated the amount of issues that will crop up with increased use.
- Content for Onyx Facilities will be spread over multiple patches (they’re not finished).
- Resource Drive will be extended for another month.
- There will be no official videos on Onyx Facilities to “let you investigate and discover things by yourself”.
- New thing coming with patch 4.3:
- Dynamic snow.
- Multiple variants of light stealth armour.
- Zenith sniper rifle.
- Hangar spawning.
- New ships added to in-game stores. Also a promise they’ll be added quicker in the future.
- Tuning adjustments for light fighters (speeds, accelerations, HP, components etc).
- New ship: L-21 Wolf.
- Onyx Facilities (partial release, multiple locations).

Do they just say it, or do they actually didn’t intend it as a stresstest but either way
So far they found root causes of 44 individual issues with FEs, 20 of them being of blocker or critical priority.
is pretty impressive, so lets hope 4.3 will implement all the remedies and it will be smooth sailing afterwards.
Jared specifically mentioned that he’d like to say this was suppose to be a stress test but that wasn’t the plan. They didn’t know things would get this bad.
I don’t think we can expect all the fixes with 4.3. They’re targeting today for a potential release and based on this ISC the overall fix initiative for elevators is still underway. Things should be somewhat better though as I’ve seen elevators mentioned in the PTU patch notes.
I hope for the best, cheers :)
Yup, that’s all we can do.
The freight elevators are definitely much more reliable in the 4.3 PTU. Only issue I’ve had is that the elevator console gets stuck on “loading contents” when you first connect. If you close and re-open, it shows your goods and everything works.
I think the dynamic snow is what’s causing laser gun-like effects at certain camera angles. I thought someone was shooting at me the first time I encountered it.
My experience with 4.3 has been significantly better than 4.2.1.
I’ve encountered the “loading content” issue in both 4.2.1 and previous patches so that’s nothing new at least. Lets hope these improvements keep things running when swarmed by LIVE playerbase.
Was the effect actual “gun-like” or just line style artefacts that happen randomly to some people? I’m just curious, not like I have a solution or workaround for that.
For sure on the loading content issue, but the nice difference here is that it worked every single time you reconnected to the terminal. In the previous versions it was very hit and miss trying that. For me, mostly miss.
The issue that I’m talking about with the snow looks like whitish yellow lasers being fired. They flash down and dissappear. I think it’s a camera angle thing because I was looking around the cockpit the first time it happened and then when I went to the outer view of my ship and circled the camera around, it would happen at the same points along the circle each time. NBD, really, but it got my heart pumping for a second the first time.
To be fair, some issues tend to be less prevalent on PTU due to lower server load. Not trying to be negative and I hope I’m just being overly cautious but I learned my lesson when it comes to stuff like that. Still, thanks for the info and I hope things do in fact end up more robust with this patch.
This visual effect sounds familiar actually - I think I saw it once before but I obviously can’t say for sure whether it’s the same thing. In my case it looked like red lasers if I remember correctly.

So no one at CIG has been playing as a space trucker since cargo elevators were released.
We’re also going to go ahead and extend the Race for Stanton Missions while we continue to work on freight elevators throughout alpha 4.3.
Well, it sounds like the freight elevators are a lot more reliable in 4.3 and at least they’re extending the event because of the issues.
Is the “game” actually playable yet or is it still a crash sim??
I haven’t had a crash in months personally despite playing on a vastly underpowered setup so “works on my machine”, I guess? If you mean 30K errors caused by server crashes, those were fixed a long time ago with automatic server migration when that happens.
I wasnt talking game crashes, last time I tried playing I spawned my ship and it freaked out, spinning in place then yeeted it self into space.
Ah, fair enough. In that case the workaround I’ve seen posted in various places was to call the ship in the terminal, store it then move to your hangar and call it again. Personally I skip the first two steps and just call it from the hangar - never had any issues this way but that might be my luck.
pretty darn rare nowadays, avoiding all the other bugs is a lesson in patience though
