Hot damn, that’s a great soundtrack—both the original pieces and the Gen I/II remixes (that National Park remix (Blue Field) grooves so hard)! I have vague memories of playing Pokémon Pinball, but I never owned it, so I think I just played someone’s copy one time. Might have to give it a go! I played the unreleased Pokémon Picross recently and enjoyed it (I mean, it’s picross…hard to screw it up), but the OST was nothing to write home about.
Also, I love how when you Google the composer, Go Ichinose, the first photo that pops up is a photo of him with legendary jazz saxophonist and anime/video game nerd Patrick Bartley—real recognize real. Ichinose first started working on the main series in Gen II and composed some of the most iconic tracks (National Park, Ecruteak City, Violet City, Azalea Town).
While we’re on the topic of kickass Pokémon Game Boy OSTs, I have to submit the OST that I can play in my head from memory: Pokémon TCG. They added even more bangers in the Japan-only sequel!
I always loved how they incorporated the original Japanese opening into the game
original or ruby/sapphire? Because both are pretty neat. The Pokemon TCG game had some bangers too.
Original gameboy colour one. The best pokemon game ever
