NMS is easily one of the most bang for your buck games ever made. I can’t think of any other game you pay for once with so much work done since release. Not a single DLC or micro transaction. I can’t blame people for being pissed about the hype at release, but holy fucking shit have they redeemed themselves.

I know right? Anyway I am gonna go get some food and then probably gonna play this shit all weekend if you wanna join me.

Meanwhile Star Citizen is at like what $600 million in crowd funding and they haven’t even released the original campaign from the kickstarter 13 years ago

I came back for the fishing update cos it was really fun and the planets were pretty and then I decided to do the original story with my bf and some portal thing turned my ship into a testicle and I quite forever. Apparently still has really old bugs from like when it came out :(

If you do play make sure to use the save tool and backup your saves and ship seeds lest your ship turn into a testicle. Everything is stored locally and save files editable and you won’t get banned so just an fyi. It’s a fun game

It’s a very entertaining game but I did start getting tired of the fetch quests and lack of enemy variety and mid combat mechanics (I have lots of really cool tools and my enemies have one basic attack each), and the gargantuan size of the game map and procedural generation started getting dull. Ofc by then I’d put over 100 hrs in I’m pretty sure.

I did like stumbling on anomalous planets and building up bases. It’s a fun game for sandbox stuff but after you catch up to the game’s development there’s not much left and it’s all samey.

Nah, I found that a while back while ship-hunting and screenshotted it. There’s a non-zero chance that it’s a randomly generated name. Unfortunately, I don’t have portal coordinates to it, and I have no idea what might have been nearby to go check it out. It should be easy enough to track down since it’s a black hole system, though.

Edit: It might be in the vicinity of this:

I should probably check this game out again, since I was one of the people who played it when it first released almost a decade ago, and it was legitimately dogshit then.

A lot of the blame should be laid on Sony, they hyped it up as a massive release almost as if it had been on par with their first party releases when it was really just an indie game with a relatively small team behind it. The bar is really low, but they’ve accomplished a lot more with their resources than Star Citizen has with 13 years of “development” and over 800 million dollars.

Yeah, I had to check how much it was, and that was apparently the newest figure. People keep giving him money even though there are actual alternatives if you want a space exploration game: Elite Dangerous for all its faults and misdirected development is much better, there’s NMS, you could check out the X series…

  • I love this game, if you haven’t played it since Worlds came out I highly suggest giving it a try.

The new Corvette-class ships are so fun! I haven’t done any multi player with it, but had a lot of fun assembling the ship. Corvette-class has a bunch of useful modules like a large refinery, hydroponics bay, and storage container access. They are pretty pricey, I spent like 15 million units on my ship. It’s pretty fully featured, but all that just gets you to C class. You have to do a bunch of freighter salvage missions to get upgrades / nicer parts.

Honestly I’m glad to have more reasons to hunt for freighter wrecks, I haven’t had much motivation to do that before now. Potentially having more parts to play with is way more motivating than maybe finding one freighter upgrade and a bunch of random junk.

Wasn’t that the game where the devs were like “yeah this whole thing is a massive shared universe where you can interact with everyone else” but it turned out they were just straight-up lying lmao

There’s the prefab modular units and then there’s the newer wall/floor components and they don’t align on the same grid. One is on a (iirc) 3m grid and the other is on a 5m grid. It’s infuriating to my sense of aesthetics and drives me absolutely bonkers

The trick is that the prefab corridors will align with the wall arches – you can use that to get things to snap together, but it’s still pretty tricky because you’ll have either a hairline overlap or a hairline gap sometimes. I have fallen through one of those gaps before in a low-orbit base; it fucking sucks. Handy for setting up fishing bases, though! I like to set up a pair of pylons using the cylindrical prefabs on either side of a big-ass rectangular fishing room that is just a hair above the waterline and also has landing pads connected to it. The prefabs contain batteries and solar panels, and are wired together by connections hidden under the fishing room.

          Something like this:
