A painting by Banksy of a judge using a gavel to beat a helpless protester appeared on the walls of the Royal Courts of Justice before quickly being covered up by guards.
Banksy confirmed the artwork was his by posting a picture of it on Instagram on Monday morning. Local workers said security guards were in position in front of the artwork, which is thought to be a reference to pro-Palestine protests.
One, Matteo, said he passed by at 8.30am on Monday when the guards were trying to stop people from taking pictures. More staff then arrived with supplies to cover it up.
Nothing more dangerous that an artist expressing his views.
it’s surprising that banksy cares; i thought that they were just a bougey fashion thing like balenciaga or hermes.
Banksy, whose identity is not known, has a reputation for political works and has painted on the separation wall that Israel erected along the boundary of the occupied West Bank.
In May, he posted a picture of a work in Marseille – a stencilled lighthouse and the words: “I want to be what you saw in me.”
Just because somebody is hyped, doesn’t automatically mean they are shitty.
just the one time?
Took them two years to not be shitty though. Imagine being less revolutionary than 82 year olds in wheelchairs.
Banksy is not a real one. But it’s a good drawing I’ll give em that.
didn’t even put a flag on it
still gets censored
We’re so lucky to live in enlightened western democracies where we have unlimited freeze peach.
but but tinyman square; and the great firewall; and the weeghurls; and the hermit kingdom; and the nazi-communists; and international law; and they hate our freedum …
it’s been really funny to watch all the fearmongering about China become lived reality in the west
it’s depressing to me since the people i love and care about are also drinking this kool-aide, but at least the hexbearers (hexbearians?) are giving me plenty of reasons to look at the funny side of it; they’ve done wonders to stop my doomscrolling.
