Hi hexbears eggman-announcement

I’m a new ML bear coming from lemmy to talk with based and hot people like yourselves. I just wanted to introduce myself and ask for a few advice and what to see/visit in my upcoming trip.

I wasn’t sure if I should’ve posted this here or c/chapotraphouse or in c/chat.

Briefly about me. I was a lib (no but for real) for a long time until I really understood a lot more when I joined lemmy and was introduced to a bit of theory, history, and materialism thanks to Lemmygrad users and Hewbears. I still have a long road ahead of me to develop my understanding of the world and how a socialist society works.

I am not from the US, was never a Reddit user (apart from exceptions), and have actually never listened to Chapo Trap House (but I think I should), so there are things I might not get here but I think this will feel like home still, as I’ve always felt closely aligned with users here. A big change will be to start using the quadrillion emotes doggirl-sweat

In less than two months I will begin a few-months trip in Asia, Russia and northern Europe. I would like to visit Kerala and possibly Tripura in India, Laos, Vietnam, China, Korea (I haven’t delved into that yet), Russia possibly including the LPR (??). At the end, maybe some former USSR states, Sweden and Norway.

This is where I need you, because I need advice on what to visit and see: countries, cities, natural spots, people, historical places, museums, … you name it! I will post regular pictures and updates on hexbears

    Welcome

Nah don’t. Do some of Matt Christman’s rants if you really have to but the show is ehh. Citations Needed is better for actual theory and The Deprogram is better for group of socialist boys saying stupid shit to one another.

Vietnam is great, you’ll love any of it, try to find someone local that can steer you away from just the tourist stuff. DPRK is interesting, if you’re not american it’s significantly easier to do. Can’t speak for the others, I know it’s on the other side of the world but you should also consider Cuba.

Sweden’s alright, been a few times, they have cute houses. You can do a hostel trip there on practically zero budget too, like I seriously think I paid £10 for a 3 day weekend stay that included breakfasts.

I haven’t listened to CTH but if The Deprogram is considered better than it… welp that’s saying something

Hello! I hope your trip goes well. Will you be ok visiting the LPR though? I know things have slightly cooled off but isn’t it an active warzone? Or at least, I think there’s still some artillery fire?

In any case, take care of yourself! Please visit Shenzhen! I’ve been to China before and Shenzhen is really what sticks out in my mind. It’s like a cyberpunk sci-fi city in real life, I’ve never been so amazed by a place. Plus I bought some extremely cheap electronics that I still have. One of my favorite cities on earth honestly.

Please tell us about your travels when you get back!
