G Gundam. I don’t remember shit about it besides it being some kind of glorified tournament arc, the Japanese protagonists cockpit being wild looking to me, and one of the episodes with the American Gundam having some women sing “America the beautiful” while the u.s pilot was getting his ass beat I think.

You have to keep in mind that he was borderline ignoring this girl for the whole series to go play karate with his friends while she took care of keeping everything running.
Some of the stuff he said was definitely deep (I got the impression that he was mentioning they were being raised as soldiers and never got the chance to be human beings), but I’ve never watched the show so I don’t really know their histories
The show does some interesting stuff*, but at the end of the day it’s more of a super silly robots doing karate thing. It’s still super compelling in a weird way, though
*It’s the first alternate universe Gundam show (from 1994), and manages to recontextualize the themes of the original Tomino Gundam shows/movies with a soft power competition in an “end of history” world that still manages to impoverish smaller nations, consolidate power in
, and crush the working class of the Earth sphere.
