Ah I see we’re still on that “the cannabis today is 100x bajillion times stronger than it was decades ago” bit so people don’t feel like massive hypocrites for supporting criminalization despite smoking weed in college.

I use weed daily, not because I can’t stop (I have no problem taking a t-break or having to take a day off because of circumstances) but because why the fuck not, because it helps my brain transition out of daily grind and stress and into mindless TV or video game playing.

I wish I didn’t have such guilt when I use it regularly. It’s the only thing that allows me to focus on something and actually enjoy it, my adhd meds help me focus but they make me feel really scatterbrained and like I’m tweaking lol.

I also worry it makes my depression and lack of motivation worse but idk. I just really enjoy it so its hard to stop. Sorry to randomly rant under your comment lol, just came to mind

I worry about those things to. The guilt comes and goes, but I just try to focus on if weed is actually causing me problems. Sometimes I am using weed to avoid stuff I really need to do but often it is just an easy way to cope right now

It really sucks reading articles like these and holding the belief that addiction is serious and anyone can become addicted to anything. Cause like come on man, does it.make your brain try to break out of your skull prison like mine when I get no nicotine? Idk. Strange world. Absolutely abstract.

I am legitimately having some trouble breaking the habit of smoking every day.

IDK if it’s because I’ve formed a dependency or because I feel incredibly stuck in life and it’s good escapism.

Either way it’s probably a good idea to stop for a little bit and then see how I’m feeling later.

  • I read this earlier today and it’s just obscenely absurd. Not that one can’t develop an abusive relationship with weed but it’s so annoying to see it regularly used to stigmatize users. Preaching to the congregation here but an article about a topic like this with no sort of material analysis is so unserious

Any addiction should be treated the same way:

Decriminalization, destigmatization and plenty of help for quitting.

Also a redefinition of addiction would be in order, as we don’t treat some things like a proper and possibly harmful addiction, while other more harmless things are treated in a hostile manner.

It’s almost as if there’s a state sanctioned, profitable for companies consumption and a less profitable for companies, criminalized consumption and the problems are systemic…

Maaan nothing beats smoking a j while playing the guitar, or painting, or cooking, or watching clouds, or watching a movie, or talking to friends, or playing games, or…

What were we talking about? I’m high sorry.

A baby boomer who survived decades in kitchens can’t focus so well to learn to read music. Can’t think of any other reasons why a 75 year old would have cognitive issues other than pot. Switch to a dry herb vape instead of cartridges, and just be proud that you’re still kicking my dude.

As someone who was legit addicted to hash/weed for over a decade, and experienced very real withdrawal symptoms for the best part of a month after quitting, I’m genuinely surprised by some of the responses to this post.

There are studies that show that (iirc, I got the number from the drug councelor I went to but it’s been like 15 years) ~8% of users do actually get addicted to this stuff, regardless of what the agenda of the posted article may be it’s a real thing that does happen to real people.
