Yasser Abu Shabab’s militia is just the latest group to benefit from Israel’s longstanding support for groups that fragment and destabliise Palestinian civil society, writes Talal Abu Rakba.
Hasn’t this been known for a long time? Netanyahu sending literal suitcases full of money to Hamas so that they can fight harder so that Israel has a good excuse to murder them all, and such?
That’s not really the same thing. Gaza is a prison-ghetto, physically & economically controlled by Israel. And Hamas isn’t just a military, it’s the prisoners’ governing body. It runs the ghetto’s public services, like any county or city government would, except that it is almost completely economically dependent on its jailer.
That’s different from what this piece is about, where Israel is now supporting anti-Hamas insurgencies within the walls of the ghetto-prison.
