How does your steam deck not explode from that?? I assumed ARC was like, heavy as fuck?
people seem to think the steam deck is a potato. you’d be surprised at what it can handle with decent or lower graphic settings.
As long as you stay on the small screen. In TV mode, 3D games will stutter or look ugly or both. I stick to pixel art mostly for this reason.
Not true. My stepkid uses it docked at home all the time, using a 34" wide monitor. Never has any issues.
I couldn’t even get Visions of Mana to run at decent FPS, not even on potato settings, and that’s really not AAA graphics material. Expedition 33, same thing. Everspace 2 runs ok, but with settings turned way down, and it really doesn’t look pretty anymore on my TV. I definitely cannot get anything visually comparable to, e.g., a God of War or Horizon to run at the performance my ps4 ran those.
There’s a lot of cool 2D games, it’s fine for those. I’ve stopped trying with the other things.
If you know some magic trick, enlighten me.
Never tried any of those ones, sorry.
Mostly keep it cool, reduce FPS/mess with power settings, lower graphics if needed. Check protondb in case there are little tweaks needed.
I’m sure you’re not lying, but our experience has been great. Forza 5, DayZ, Valheim, ARC, Long Dark, Zomboid - we’re very happy with the performance of the titles we play.
no? I play docked and handheld. I actually prefer docked for stuff like BG3.
runs fine. looks fine. I’m not sure ive ever experienced a stutter effect while docked.
The game runs great. The deck does get quite warm… I drop FPS to 30 instead of 60 and for extended sessions I put a cup of ice (when at home, a freezer pack) behind the deck to help cool down the intake air.
5 rounds and no issues thus far!

The Steam Deck performs on par with a PS4. It can run lots of recent AAA games if you turn the graphics down.
I got a go s z2go (comparable to steam deck) and im suprised whenever it runs something that seems kinda heavy smoothly.
Pro tip, bring a dock or at least a usb c to hdmi cable when you travel so you can use the tv in the room.
I think that’s an HP dock off to the right given that the mouse and keyboard are wired into something over there. Could just be that the TV is fixed to the wall and not in a good position.
I hate playing with a controller. I have a dock, but sitting directly in front of a 55" display would not be a great experience.
Ugh, maybe it’s my bad luck, but this only works in half the hotel rooms I come to. The other half have the TV built into some kind of cabinet blocking the ports, or mounted high on a wall where my cable is too short to reach, or locked down with some software so I can’t connect my own devices.
In my experience the “cable box” in the rooms are almost always accessible just unplug the HDMI from it and use that. Then you don’t even have to figure out what button on the remote or tv changes inputs.
