    Neurotypical person:

    • May procrastinate, but can still “decide” to do the task if they put their mind to it
    • Maybe some guilt about the procrastinating
    • Does the task
    • Gets a hit of dopamine, so they feel good and think, “why did I put it off?”
    • Remembers that next time there’s a task

    ADHDer:

    • Get up. Get up now. Please get up and do the task. Why can’t I get up and do the task? I hate myself so much. I’m letting everyone down… Seriously, just do the task, I’m begging you…
    • Major guilt spiral, RSD, feels bad man
    • Does the task
    • Doesn’t get a hit of dopamine, so they feel the same and think, “ugh, why did I bother?”
    • Remembers that next time there’s a task

And remember, messing around for 4 hours with a piece of equipment or software can often save you a good 5 minutes of reading the manual.

For weeks I’ve been trying to figure out if and how I can manually configure the NetworkManager connectivity check. I’ve probably spent a few hours browsing around the internet.

The answer is in NetworkManager.conf man page, as I found yesterday. Surprising, I know.

My boyfriend and I both struggle with this lol. I had a few books I had borrowed from a friend that I wanted to give back. For months I would be like “oh I need to give them back!” Whenever I looked at my shelf. Then one day I finally put the books in a neat little canvas bag and put them next to my favourite chair because it would be easy to grab and bring with me to work the next day.

One year later I put the books back on the shelf. My friend is chill about it. Hasn’t even asked for them back. He has a few of my things too, that he has kept for years so we have mutual understanding.

My boyfriend has a few very specific hobbies that he tend to work on and then leave lying around without putting them away for months. I do that too, tbf. We just deal with each other’s weirdness.

I haven’t finished putting up the trim in a room I started remodeling for 4 years. I’ll get to it I swear there is no need to bother me about it every 6 months.
