    Yeah, Elgo had their stuff in 1941 (based on a wooden version made by Halsam in the 1930s called “American Bricks”) while Lego started selling theirs in 1949.

    Apparently they were shit, though. Boomers who had them complained they were hard to take apart.

        A pact with the Americans. I’m pretty sure it was some kind of Marshall aid programme that allowed the small provincial wooden toy maker to buy a modern plastic injection moulding machine after WWII.
