fuck them. I don’t need to force myself to feel empathy for people mad about a fake excuse that probably has no connection to reality at all but has every connection to bigotry.
nope, no one in schools is pushing kids to be trans and you’re a disgusting person for spreading that lie. Support is not “pushing”.
Your attempt to put a coat of logic onto bigotry is disgusting and makes you worse than a conservative who admits to being racist. Because at least with them you know what you’re getting, they’re not trying to trick anyone with false motives.
I read your comments below where you claim everyone on Lemmy is a mindless drone parroting leftist ideas but you. Maybe what that feeling actually is is a sign that you’re out of your element. Reddit.com/r/conservative seems more your speed. That’s where the admitted Nazis, the supposedly moderate conservatives, and other bigots hang out. They’d welcome your anti-trans intentional lies with open arms.
This is insane. I have nothing agaisnt trans people, I don’t know where you got that idea. Then doing whatever they want to their bodies affects in no way whatsoever.
This is a subject I know little about. On one hand there’s lemmy’s opinion, on the other there’s IRL’s opinion and they are very different. I did the exact same to them, brought them lemmy’s arguments. Unfortuntately they reacted the exact same as you, called me a woke socialist and moved on.
I don’t know why you’d send me to r/conservative, I’m a leftist and will surely always be, though I’m sure not as extreme as you. It’s true though lemmy brought me closer to the right than I’ve ever been.
You brought bad faith arguments and didn’t take any care to point out that they are flawed, so, even if you strongly disagree with them and did not mean to promote them in any way, you indeed did promote them by repeating them and offering no criticism of them whatsoever.
Your language actually implied that it’s a legitimate claim to say “schools are pushing kids to be trans” which is beyond bullshit. I know someone who teaches in a very blue area and all they’re asked to do is call kids by the name they ask, and suggest talking with a counselor for kids seemed troubled. And even within that framework there are conservative teachers who are mad about those requests and don’t honor them. So yeah, it’s harmful for you to pretend things are happening which are not happening, particularly because thousands of liars are driving young people to suicide by parroting the same lie you did.
How can I say they are flawed? I’m not an expert in politics. One side tells me they are correct, the other tells me not. If I took the time to research it then maybe I could understand and make my own opinion, but there are so many (imo) more interesting things to research than politics.
But honestly, if you think relating opinions you disagree with is harmful, then perhaps you’re already too far gone. Everyone who truly believes my so-called “claims” are wrong should have no problem just ignoring them. Those who could actually be persuaded they are true do not know enough to make an informed decision about which side is correct, or if any is, anyway.
This is all just cowardly. We both know that if you said a racist thing online without disagreeing with it, you’d clearly just be spreading a toxic idea. There’s zero difference here. Bye.
And schools pushing kids to be trans is somewhat a thing.
you could also say that schools are pushing kids to be cis today.
and i get your point about surgery being a big impact on somebody’s life (and i personally would never undergo a not medically necessary surgery myself), but most of the time, teenagers (if they’re taking any medical process at all) take hormones (which is swallowing pills) which by the way is also done by people with diabetes (insulin is literally a hormone) and so it’s kind of a “routine thing” and that’s why i wouldn’t call it surgery.
Most of the time, though, it’s not even that; it’s literally about clothing and stuff.
This is why I kind of look forward to our generation dying off 50 years from now. We may have started the progressive shift, but we are tainted by the old world, the wrong world, whether we like it or not. The world will never be a better place with us around.
Well for decades sex education was railed against as promoting promiscuity and sex outside marriage even though shotgun weddings and ‘premature’ babies were the norm on my home town long before sex education was.
It’s what I explained. Not that it is literally that, but that the way they talk about it can sometimes be seen as pushy. All I know is what my young family members tell me, this was not a thing when I was at school.
You’re literally just pushing soft conservative talking points trying to indicate there is an issue there while not providing any real evidence to back it. Gender affirming care is important, it saves lives, there are plenty of guard rails in place to make sure it’s not improperly administered to young trans individuals, and the regret rate is very low.
You trying to insinuate there is an issue there is literally bullshit.
I’m not pushing anything, I’m relating the opinions of people around me. Why the fuck would you expect me to bring evidence for that? I don’t know shit about this issue, I’m telling you what I hear people say. Argue with them not me.
Lol, you made a claim, said something is a thing, refuse to back it up, and then say you’re just relating what other people say. Either grow some balls or learn how to think for yourself, because you’re seriously lacking in something.
When did I ever make a claim? The first sentence of my first comment was literally that this was what I heard, not that it was the truth.
I myself don’t care enough about politics to really know what the situation is, hence why I did not state my opinion on the matter, but one thing I do know is that what lemmy seems to think is very different from what people actually think when you leave your basement.
To quote Russell:
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.
Lemmy, just like far-right forums, seems to be full of people sure of themselves.
What else do you expect? I’m not giving you a scientific paper here, I’m giving you a testimony. Ever heard of those? Mostly it’s the info I gathered over the christmas holidays from younger people who are still in school.

I just hope the fascists don’t win.
I agree with all of this, really it’s the ugly 1% that most conservatives are upset about.
Excuse me? Got any evidence for this bullshit?

Dressing up your anti-intellectual hogwash in excuses
Lol.
Literally the whole base for this comment. Yikes.
