  • I’m on the train rn and there’s been a NASA guy loudly talking about work stuff with another guy for the last hour

Apparently they keep losing their engineers and scientists to the private sector (mostly SpaceX) and they just lose their knowledge and know how of how to do things because there wasn’t adequate knowledge transfer before they left

Like NASA apparently can no longer manufacture ceramic coating on rockets for re entry or something like that because they lost the one guy responsible for that to SpaceX, among many other things I didn’t understand

  • They 100% are, their LinkedIn posts are all just bits, and their billboard Ads are all puns and jokes. There’s one that says something like “All of your data is ready right here when you PostHog”

Also do you mean class traitors to proles or the bourgeoisie? Because I’ve checked out their careers website and they had all the classic signs of a shitty toxic startup

“One of the hardest parts about building a high performance team, is letting people go when they aren’t performing. We are decisive and do this faster than many others would.”

“While we will give direct feedback, if we don’t see this being responded to quickly ahead of letting someone go, we will part ways, so people can find a job they are better suited to, and so we can find a team member better suited to the job.”

“Personality traits that cause people to be successful here Genuine builders. Some people do jobs for the money. Those that have truly found their passion are far stronger.”

“Why you should not join. Getting a pay rise. We pay generously, but you’ll need to love building to be happy here.”

They also pay about middle of the market rates so not actually that generously. And their severance is only 4 months, slightly higher than average but nowhere near European companies (6-18 months). For reference Amazon gives 2 months and Meta and Google also gives 4 months
