  • “We are doing our best to get Democrats to talk like normal people and stop talking like they’re leading a seminar at Antioch,” says Matt Bennett, Third Way’s executive vice president of public affairs.

The reason they don’t sound like normal human beings isn’t that they’re using precise and academic languages to describe the condition of minorities, you dimwitted animal. They aren’t proper human beings, so they can’t talk properly.

As I write that, I know this removed knows this is hermeneutical injustice. They don’t want marginalised groups to have the terms to describe their oppression. The sad part is how many of those marginalised actually bought into their relatively short-lived theatre of giving a shit.

  • There needn’t be a push. People isolated from significant global warming discourse or animal rights issues, which is a load of people wherever one may be, don’t really get why vegans are “the way they are.”

Not even rhetoric, the mere existence of vegans with explanations of their reasons can create thoughts of “are you saying I don’t care about the environment/animal welfare” in their skulls. I’m not even vegan, I just happen to know a few, but talking about those people’s veganism, I’ve seen too many people have really weird notions behind their eyes before reaching the conclusion “whatever”

  • I didn’t think about it until reading your comment, admittedly, but I don’t think it’s an inconsistent label exactly. I would appreciate correction from anyone better studied.

Kamikaze specifically and suicide in general in military “terms” don’t seem to be used for simply an action ending the the termination of the actor, they seemingly refer to operation-capable actors engaging in an operation or action that will terminate them (i.e. death when referring to a person) when conceivably, there are alternatives, including surrender and other actions that would render the person, vehicle, or thing unusable for the conflict. A missile can’t be spent and still be capable, same as any other ammunition. The drones, even if for these drones their only function in this conflict is to be a guided/flown bomb, could serve some other purpose.

That said these thoughts are entirely descriptive and it’s entirely possible that so-called suicide drones be counted among ammunition in the near future. If that happens, it’s also quite possible that we cease referring to their operation as a suicide.

  • “who’s going to pay for insurance without employers” levels of discourse and what answers I’ve got, you’ve got as well.

Why didn’t Marx think of all this, and why didn’t he consider the worker, whose output is decreased because he sprained his wrist after wanking, all have the same answer. None of it matters. Socially necessary labour time is a reasonable abstraction, based on the fact that a gross total is produced over some time period, which gives us an average time required per unit. Questioning this is the same as questioning average speed over x distance at t time. It’s saying averages and expectations, extremely frequent functions in maths, physics and chemistry, have to be justified every time.

The answer the idiot neoliberal really wants is what divine source of idealisation Marx, and therefore contemporary Communists are using. That’s what price=value is. It’s saying that the deaf, blind and dumb hand of the market is a divine pointer for some ideal number. We’re materialists, we neither expect the metaphysical to affect thee results nor do we ascribe divinity to what is merely a function of the material.

The liberal approach of “whatever is gained is earned, whatever is earned is deserved” is the result of capitalism creating a distribution impossible to justify and work difficult to quantify. Every neoliberal, every SocDem, every fascist hills this to be true implicitly, even if they put up a bunch of caveats when their feet are held to the fire. I don’t think the higher stage of communism will require marketing, but there will still be some service work and they will be either impossible or extremely impractical to remove from the total output. I don’t really have a way to quantify them either, if not labour time. I mean, deliveries made and tables served are one thing, but papers signed, phone calls made, lines of code written? Companies are trying that shit and finding out on real time that it creates perverse incentives.

Honest suggestion: don’t bother. People with a good reason to reject reality will come up with a hundred excuses by the time you disprove one. Trying to prove something to one’s interlocutor’s satisfaction and have them admit that is a fool’s errand almost every time.

  • r/writingprompts is the saddest subreddit I’m still subbed to. I’ve been there for years, it’s just getting less and less active. What little activity exists is just marvel and fantasy tropes. Superhero this, elves and Paladins that. The replies are frequently run-of-the-mill cliche fests. The saddest part is that the rare gem, the most interesting and unique prompts and the most curious approaches to meagre yet popular prompts get basically no attention.

I just opened it up, top 2 posts are elves and necromancers. It’s beyond unfortunate considering what the community could be.
