5·23 days agoThey want AI so the few tasks they can’t automate away have their productivity scored against a fast “intelligence”, so they can browbeat the actual worker down on their wages.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is the FOSS world in danger of a corporate takeover, thanks to pushover licenses?English
2·1 month agoLike, MS isn’t mandating signed exes or trying to fully lock Windows into the MS Store
I’m pretty sure this is changing too. Like the start menu deprioritizing the application menus vs the “app list”

2·1 month agoYeah this happens when the wrong kind of professional reviews exposure, which happens a lot.
Lawyers reviewing the licence terms will absolutely flag stuff that’s realistically a non-issue.
People that do threat risk assessment, (insurance type of thing) can view FOSS and other open standards as a reduction in risk across the board, and when these kind of professionals are tendering the creation of systems they specify open APIs and access to stuff. (At least in the projects that I’ve worked on, security systems in Toronto.)
This isn’t a hard rule, kinda a spectrum.

4·1 month agoYeah that’s a fucking trip.
The earliest biggest red flag is the delay tactics and request for silence.
Like, if I was in that position I would not ask to submit a partial submission, I would tell them “this partial submission contains all requests as of this date. This information will not change.” And then make a press release that “all information requested as of x date has been submitted. All information requested after this date is currently being compiled for submission.”
Unless there’s a court ordered gag, which it doesn’t sound like there was, you do not need to take suggestions on what you talk about. Especially when you aren’t speaking directly with the people telling you not to talk?

92·1 month agoYeah I’m going to work on the real root cause which is the culture that promotes uncaring and malicious behavior, regardless of the technology that is being used to exact that behavior.
It’s out of touch to think that this sort of thing don’t happen with more crude tools. Are you going to play wack a mole with every new tool and platform that comes up?

Right thing wrong reason :/
