25 years ago I was writing code in a paper notebook, sometimes while riding the bus. The only computer access was at college and it was easier to work through the code on paper and then quickly transcribe it once I got on campus.
Yeah, things are a bit more complicated now, but in other ways they are sooooo much easier. The fact that people are using chatGPT to ‘program’ is just crazy from my perspective.
A good bug net and a tarp are going to be just as effective as a modern tent, and breathe better.
No. Maybe better than a cheap tent from Walmart.
Don’t buy cheap tents or sleeping bags and take care of them.

Work is hard. I’ve worked for souless corporations, it’s hard not to. Sometimes you just have to be servant class and have no other option. Just be sure that you are taking money from them without giving them any excess effort. You can always work towards other opportunities. If you want to do something else, learn to do it. You can learn so many things for free. I just recently accepted a new position with a local company that shares my values. Most of the skills that got me there were things I learned on my own over the last decade. I didn’t go to school for this, nor do I have any directly comparable job experience. Before my last corporate hustle I had a long term job with a local non-profit for many years. I also did not start that position by having the necessary experience. Don’t lose hope, there are always better opportunities in the future.
I control how I spend my money. If I don’t like a company or product I don’t give them any money. Sometimes that means I spend more elsewhere. Sometimes I just have to give up something. I do allow for guilty pleasures occasionally (chocolate).
My grocery bill is minimal because I don’t eat meat, I don’t eat a lot of processed food and I don’t over-eat. I also grow a lot of food (this time of year half or more of my meal ingredients come out of the garden).
The most important thing about HOW I LIVE LIKE THIS?
I don’t judge other people who can’t.
It requires some sacrifice and not everyone can handle that. But I do encourage everyone to try, even a little. If every single person put in effort to be 10% “better” the world would be much better.
I go to sleep at 1 (plus socks, beanie, and sometimes a hoodie)
I wake up at 20
Sometimes I wake up warm and strip a layer or two off. But I’ve been like this my whole life so I usually don’t even wake up when clothes start coming off.
I don’t sleep-walk, I sleep-strip.
And I’m VERY careful about where I fall asleep.
Using the app becomes obstruction or terrorism. People who do that will also get sent to camps.
It seems far fetched but it’s really not. After all, nobody would step to stop either of those things from happening.
It’s also a great name for a cover band.
Butt rock covers of gospel songs perhaps?
Choosing isn’t really an option for poor people. My phone was over 5 years old, unsupported, and the battery stopped charging. I was forced to get a new phone. I didn’t choose to.
My car was what I could afford after my last car needed more work than it’s bluebook value for the 3rd time that year. I had to get a ‘new’ car, and it’s very used. I didn’t get to look for a car that had great audio options. Hell it doesn’t even have 4 working speakers.
My preference is for the highest quality.
My reality is that wired audio works all the time and it’s affordable.
I’ve tried something like that in the past and found them less reliable than the FM transmitters. But I suppose that was a while ago and maybe the tech has changed enough that the affordable ones work well.
Still not willing to spend twenty dollars on cheap plastic when that money could be spent on 2 days of food or something that I don’t already have a cheap solution for. I paid less than $10 for this cord over a decade ago and it still works fine.
Yeah the Bluetooth is convenient, but I don’t think forcing people to that platform is a solution. Also Bluetooth still has inherent issues. It’s never 100%. My audio doesn’t hiccup or start cutting out unless I unplug or damage my wire. I’ve never accidentally plugged the wire into someone else’s speaker. I don’t have to reset, or look up passwords for my wire before I can plug it in.
As a single guy who lived with a married couple, I can say it’s awesome and doesn’t have to be sex related.
It cut down on cost of living and made everything easier. A little awkward when they bicker and didn’t always enjoy playing the marriage counselor role. But overall it was great.
I think it also worked because sex wasn’t part of the relationship.
In the previous car I used a cassette adapter to plug in my phone.
I live check to check. I can’t afford a new phone, a trip to the dealer or a new stereo.
My preference for sound is that I would rather pay rent and eat food than waste money on technology to remove the wires. Sure it would be nice, but lots of nice things are just not affordable.
Because my car requires an expensive trip to the dealer to update the Bluetooth to be compatible with my phone.
I would love to ditch the wires. But I can’t afford to.
So many missed opportunities for O-bomb-a jokes
Everything is ‘2 weeks’. It’s the only time frame he gives. Probably read somewhere that the news cycle is only 2 weeks so he thinks everyone will forget by then. (They will.)
Like everything he says/does there is a slight truth buried deep in there.
Some ‘workers’ really don’t want it. They are called corporate middle management. They don’t want the wage slaves to disrupt profit or crowd the spaces that they will be using because management will still take the day off.
All 3 pixels?
Keep in mind many of these tough guy internet warriors you are talking about are waiting for their chance to shoot the protestors. They won’t be going after the government.
And those that are against the oligarchy that is transforming our aristocratic governing body and country into a dystopian nightmare… You expect them to just start shooting? Is that really the solution?
What then? All out civil war? Without international intervention it’s pretty obvious which side would come out victorious. It’s not those that want equal rights and a better country for everyone. It will be those that are willing to sacrifice everyone else for their own personal gain.
I LOVE IT
