I am pretty sure you mean that we exist because of the ruling class. The American Revolution wasn’t really a popular uprising. It was a bunch of wealthy people seizing power through propaganda and terrorism.

There are never any good guys per se, but I definitely was partial to the deaf guy because I knew him personally. I thought it was cruel to fire him when he had been doing it for over a decade even if they paid him a shit wage. It was still all he had.

I grew up with a pitbull. When I was a child my dad was a logger and was extremely strong. One day our pitbull decided to attack another dog. My dad, even with all his might could not get our pitbull to let go. There is no controlling pitbulls. I Ioved that dog, but I would never recommend anyone have that breed.

I left Reddit because I realized that the people running it were complete assholes who believed money was more important than community.

What made me interested in Lemmy was the decentralized nature. What made me stay is how it reminded me of Reddit a decade ago and of course the community.

They pay minimum wage which is less than half of what it takes to live in this community. Definitely slave wages. A local deaf guy did it for years because he had a hard time finding work, then they hired his EX and decided he was no longer a good fit. Not exactly a good employer.

The whole concept of drowning out bad information with good information doesn’t work. It was just a theory about communication that has been proven wrong countless times.
