  • Just because they believe it’s tasteless and disgusting doesn’t mean they’re going to attack people over it. It’s fine. Probably most people don’t support prostitution, because we see that most people do not engage with sex work in any way.

We need to drop the idea that people - in this case, sex workers - get harmed unless 100% of society is repeating some mantra - e.g “sex work is real work” - to demonstrate their allegiance to x oppressed group. Sometimes people just don’t interact with that slice of society.

  • Ideally we shouldn’t have it, to protect sex workers. I know people say “legalise it as much as possible and they’ll be safe” but that’s not really true - people are safest when they don’t have to trade sex, and nobody should have to sell their body. Ever.

As i’ve gotten older it seems like less of a problem though. It should be targeted / cracked down on when it helps to rout out other types of organised crime, but I don’t feel like the existence of prostitutes is causing people to cheat on their partners or anything - i think if someone is prone to doing that, they’ll find a way. [open to hearing disagreements]

Also I feel like the way to get people to stop being prostitutes is to show compassion, like Jesus did, rather than punishing them.

  • Follow-up: I think people historically, and today, want numbers to take up not much space - historically so they fit in ledgers, but also because calculations take up so much space on paper so small numbers helps.

When people were doing bookkeeping they generally work slow and carefully, and can therefore afford to focus on legibility rather than resorting to cursive.

Cursive just opens up more potential for mistakes - misreading your own working, for instance.

  • The most ardent advocatess of capitalism, as well as its biggest critics, see “true capitalism” as essentially economic anarchism (more commonly known as “Laissez-faire”). In this sense, yes, true capitalism should avoid cronyism because it would be following the Darwinist principle of “the most-qualified for survival in this unmanaged economy deserves the job.”

But humans cannot be trusted not to engage in cronyism. With no interventionist/organisational force (the government for instance) partaking in the economy, there is no greater power for people to put their faith in, and thus they don’t trust that their friends and family can obtain decent paying work. I would therefore argue that cronyism happens more under true, unchained capitalism.

I mean just look at how business owners behave today, in a world with some restrictions placed upon capitalism. They can’t help themselves.

Answering the question: Crony capitalism and true capitalist is a false dichotomy (distinction), but the USA certainly isn’t true, laissez-faire, capitalist.

Would TRUE capitalism have any problems?

Capitalism, (needlessly) increases competition for resources, access to markets, and even results in fierce competition over abstract things. This is exacerbated the more unmanaged capitalism becomes, so I think True capitalism would have more problems than whatever we live under now.

Is the best thing a mix of socialism and capitalism?

I think so, yes. I am of the view that capitalism is a relic of the past, a developing species or developing society kind of thing, but communism, if it’s the ideal way of structuring society, belongs to the future. A more automated and technologically advanced future.

  • Don’t know if i would describe it as a friendship, but squirells are one of the easiest creatures to form a (one-sided) business relationship with because of their ravenous hunger.

Step 1; have cat flap/dog flap Step 2: leave nuts in cat flap for That’s it. They will straight up queue outside your back door for free samples. Optional Step: Place nuts in garden or in cat flap when you think squirells are around, watching. This means they’ll more quickly associate you with the food.

    Also Crows. Absolutely amazing creatures.
