politics @lemmy.world•Kristi Noem pulls plane off search for overboard Coast Guardsman to deport migrants
2·4 days agoToo much filler, it’s settling weird on her face and lips. I’m assuming she keeps injecting more without dissolving the previous batch. Look up pictures of her from 2018 and you’ll see how much filler she’s packed into her cheeks, eye troughs, and lips.
It also looks like her makeup is extremely dry, but the way it’s caked on over uneven skin does make me wonder if she has a condition like rosacea. I have rosacea and don’t wear makeup because it just looks worse than my bare skin lol

News@lemmy.world•TSA agents are working without pay at US airports due to another shutdown
21·6 days agoLast time I went through airport security the TSA took my cane from me and made me stand clutching the arm of a stranger while they xrayed me (or whatever that scan is). It was humiliating, and I’m lucky my knee didn’t give out during that ordeal.
On my first leg of the trip they gave me a wooden cane that was entirely too tall, but that was definitely better than not having one at all

Cooking @lemmy.world•What do you cook when your left arm doesn't work?
2·8 days agoI knew you’d know if it’s suitable, haha.
The one thing I hate about the one I have is that it’s made of plastic. You’ll have to share pics when you have made yours!

Cooking @lemmy.world•What do you cook when your left arm doesn't work?
1·8 days agoIt made my life so much easier! I needed a carpal and cubital release in both arms and couldn’t even slice veg by the point I was entering hand therapy.
We’ll see if I still need it after the surgeries heal, if I don’t then I plan on donating it to an accessible device service in my state so it can help more people

Cooking @lemmy.world•What do you cook when your left arm doesn't work?
2·8 days agoI think mine has stainless in it, because it’s cheap. If you have brass on hand, why not? I think it’ll be strong enough, I’d just wonder about corrosion at the point where it meets the board

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Improving handwriting when exhausted & slightly psychotic?
2·10 days agoI have no idea what this is called, since I’m still new to Apple, but iPad has a handwriting correction feature in its Notes app. I recently had surgery on my dominant arm, so that feature really came in handy for taking notes at uni. I write in cursive with some mixed symbols and it’s able to handle that.
Maybe when going for a mini laptop you can try finding a tablet that also allows for a Bluetooth keyboard, this way you get practice writing by hand but can swap to keyboard after some time.
Alternatively, you could try the Pomodoro method while writing. I find it helps when my adhd is too stronk

Cats@midwest.social•Scratching Post and Cat Tree Recommendations?English
1·15 days agoMy boy is 12+ pounds, he seems pretty cozy in the hammocks and house. It’s hard to tell because I swear half his weight is fur, but he can curl up and not be spilling out of it. The old lady is less than half that weight, she does like the house better with a small cuddler. It’s a pretty sturdy tree tbh
Cat for reference

Cats@midwest.social•Scratching Post and Cat Tree Recommendations?English
2·15 days agoI got a floor to ceiling tree for my young male cat, but even my ancient cat loves galloping up, so I got a second one and put a little bridge between the top levels so they can both run up and down as they wish
The old lady does not care for the hammocks, but my boy does

Just Post@lemmy.world•I wish the rest of my life pass quickly, instantly or even in autopilot if possible
3·15 days agoI’m still waiting for the decades that are better, and I’m long past teen years. Spent all day wishing those suicide booths in Futurama were real and as easily accessible
Kinda weird to call Hunter a VIP. I don’t think I’d even call him moderately important

This is epigenetics, changes to a genome via stress and environment that are passsed to offspring. We’ve known for a while that older men have children with autism or schizophrenia more often than young men, and investigating the cause and mechanism like they have in this study will help people have healthier children in the future.
The type of RNA that are involved in this study are regulatory, which means they can help or prevent gene activity, and are very important in the development of an embryo because the egg doesn’t have this in abundance like the sperm does
