Same as any purely pleasurable outlet: great in moderation, terrible when one can’t self regulate. I find it easy to avoid rape-y, tween, unrealistic porn in which I don’t find any sexual gratification. There’s plenty of small creators out there that produce wholesome sexual content.

10·6 days agoI am consistently shocked how much higher quality the food is in France and The NL when I visit; even the sloppy mall restaurants were higher quality. Paris was off the charts. The worst quality food we had there was above average for here.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If the US was partitioned/balkanised, what new states would you want to appear?
1·8 days agoThat’s kinda the point. The HRE was a gigantic federation of vassal states that had a bunch of decentralized authorities for centuries. It was a huge mess to understand how anything was done. If you think federal/state/local/municipal government is complicated, imagine trying to get anything done in the HRE system. I genuinely couldn’t summarize or give any realistic explanation, because I just cannot wrap my head around the particulars lol.
With the modern invention of passports, air travel, trains, and cars (all of which came after the fall of the HRE) I can’t see how any travel would be possible if each municipality was the strongest form of government.

0·8 days agoOhio shouldn’t be considered Midwest. It’s very much eastern seaboard and much more culturally similar to PA than the Midwest. Everything else is super solid.

15·12 days agoThere’s really something wrong with people if they think the government can’t track you down with all the paper trail that comes with being a contributing member of society. People that want to live in a bubble thinking they are anonymous are delusional. Full stop, if you own property, you are no longer an anonymous citizen. The only way to be even close to anonymous in this world we live in today is to have a burner prepaid cellphone with zero online services logged in, be homeless (or live with family), have zero credit, no car, no credit cards, no bank account, and be jobless.
If you’re reading this and think that you’d be happy with that lifestyle, you need help.

2·13 days agoI wish we had better EV towing vehicles in the US… my lightning is just too fucking big, but it’s the only thing that tows a horse trailer that isn’t a Model X (100K$ starting, 40K$ more than I paid for the Lightning) or a Model Y (barely useable; custom built “euro” trailer required to stay within towing capacity).

22·13 days agoThe bigger the screen for me, the safer it is to gaze over at directions. I wouldn’t drive without directions telling me which way is fastest. No way can a human predict traffic better than computers.
The cameras might not be “required” to drive, but they do increase precision, which in turn is safer overall.
Also, the last thing I wanna do is know my area super well, then it takes the excitement out of driving around; the engagement is helpful to keep me from being distracted.

1·13 days agoI will not buy a car without a 15” screen. I just cannot read directions as fast on any smaller screen. The bigger the information on the screen, the faster I can read it, and the less precision I need with my gaze.

52·13 days agoToyota, particularly, hasn’t kept up with advances in infotainment technology. Their infotainment is literally no better than it was in 08. Honda infotainment is slightly better, but still stuck with terribly low resolution, and only a 9”ish screen. Pretty much any other company will be a better buy than those 2 right now. Remember, the infotainment in every new car is the entire heart of the car, so you’re forced to live with it; you can’t just swap out infotainment screens for something better like you used to be able to do.
Bazzite for a first try. If you never hit a wall needing to make system tweaks, stick to it in the long term. Otherwise, I’m really liking Fedora. KDE/Gnome is personal choice.

I second this^
