The joke is that you’d think the reactions would be switched because getting called pretty is generally the nice thing and there dishwasher comment is usually meant as a sexist jab. But there’s a phenomenon among trans people in general but in this case among trans women in particular where especially early on in transition they tend to get very happy at experiencing the garden variety sexism that’s usually reserved for their aligned gender because it means the other people are seeing them as that gender rather than their agab and treating them as such.
It’s kinda funny. My partner and I literally couldn’t afford to do this and I had to be a stay at home parent for our oldest. He’s autistic and his special needs meant that daycare for him cost more than I could possibly reasonably make. Like this was back in 2016 before she became disabled herself and needed me available 24/7 but I would have needed to make like I think it was $17 an hour full time just to cover daycare and transportation? So since she had a way better work history than me being a few years older and having been a mid-level government employee back in her home state before she moved while I was just a 2 associate degree having IT grad it made much more sense for me to stay home.

Respectfully when I know for a fact that what this guy is talking about is happening because I’ve watched it happen to dozens of kids that age in my life and constantly see it in my own feeds because I try to keep my privacy at least a little so the algorithms can never decide if I’m a teen gamer boy they should push Neo-Nazi shit to or a newly out trans girl I could not give less of a fuck what your definition of “young men” is. In fact I think young men is a pretty fair generalization for dudes that could very well be beginning puberty depending on the person. If you’re claiming they weren’t part of the discussion when they very clearly need to be I think that’s a problem.

But when people talk about young men “falling down the alt-right pipeline” it is generally referring to how thoroughly targeted that entire like 12-18 age bracket is with right wing propaganda. You’re usually talking about kids that aren’t old enough to know they’re being taken for a ride yet. So while that person may have been referring to like… idk 18-22 year olds that’s such a huge outlier in the usual discussion that it should be clowned on.
idk much about the guy you’re talking about, but as someone with a 14 year old that I’ve had to teach to navigate this propaganda he’s accurate in this instance. The way the right talks to these young men is insidious, and the kind of sentiment OOP is espousing here does nothing to stop young men being pulled rightward.

Same is true for voting in a lot of places in the US. Cuz making Election Day a national holiday would be a “blatant power grab by the Democrats” (an actual argument against it Mitch McConnell made). Many places don’t have early in-person voting or adequate mail-in voting.
If you’ve gotta spend multiple hours waiting in line at the only polling place in your district that’s makes it hard to do without losing out on a day’s pay you can’t afford to lose.

Not necessarily. Depending on the gerrymandering technique that got used with her district she either got looped into a district that’s heavily Republican leaning meaning she’s likely to lose reelection now, or looped into the same district as another current Democratic Rep based on residence which would mean they’d have to fight over the district.
