given that hopefully lemmy 1.0 should be releasing within the first half of 2026 since theyve got the backend pretty much finished and are working on the UI now, i think the comms should be merged because post tags can accomplish the point of el chisme better than having 2 seperate comms would, because mods will just be able to change post tags if someone mis tags their post

i think this is the perfect use for post tags when lemmy 1.0 comes out. if you can block all posts with a certain post tag you will be able to have one community and people who dont want to see 5 upvote comments can block that tag out

this seems like it would need to be custom code. however, im not sure what this would accomplish that post tagging wouldnt accomplish
