Political Videos@lemmy.world•Stories Trump probably hoped you wouldn't notice while he 'flooded the zone'
41·7 个月前For those like me who prefer reading over watching a video, I asked chatgpt to summarize it:
The video titled “Lost in the sauce: Stories Trump probably hoped you wouldn’t notice while he ‘flooded the zone’” discusses various actions taken by the Trump administration that have received little media attention due to the overwhelming number of controversial decisions being made simultaneously. Here are the key points summarized:
-
Budget Cuts to Head Start:
- Trump proposed a budget that would eliminate the Head Start program, which provides preschool education to low-income families. This cut would significantly impact rural areas where alternative childcare options are scarce.
-
Disbanding AmeriCorps:
- The administration abruptly terminated all AmeriCorps volunteer assignments, which are crucial for disaster response and community service. This decision came without warning and has led to legal actions from volunteers and state officials.
-
Staffing Issues at the National Weather Service:
- Trump has fired numerous employees from the National Weather Service, resulting in significant staffing shortages. This has raised concerns about the accuracy of weather forecasts, especially as severe storm season approaches.
-
Monitoring Communications:
- The administration is reportedly installing monitoring software on NOAA employees’ devices to prevent them from communicating with the press about the degradation of weather services.
-
Attempted Reductions at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB):
- A drastic reduction in force was attempted at the CFPB, aiming to fire nearly all employees. However, a federal judge intervened, blocking the firings and expressing concern over the rushed nature of the administration’s actions.
-
Immigration Policies:
- The video highlights the extreme measures taken against immigrants, including a specific incident involving a Tufts University doctoral student, Rumaiza Öztürk, who was detained by immigration agents. A federal judge ordered her to be returned to Vermont for a court hearing regarding her case.
The overall theme of the video emphasizes the extreme and often unnoticed actions of the Trump administration, which are overshadowed by the constant barrage of news and controversies. The speaker urges viewers to pay attention to these significant issues that could have lasting impacts on various communities[1].

7·7 个月前There is no way that will happen. Zuck bet large on Trump precisely for stuff like this. The FTC will be disbanded if they try to force this. More likely is that whoever doesn’t do Trumps bidding will be fired until they find someone who does.
I work in automotive and sometimes visit the plants. We still have a lot of manual labor because it is hard to automate certain things. But newer production lines definitely require less people as more steps are automated. We also are starting up the implementation of robots in the warehouses after running several proof of concepts in the past years.
Anyway, there are still plenty of factory jobs that are not just sitting behind a desk, but office space is increasing for sure as one automation engineer can now run a set of robots that does the work of what 10 people used to do.
