I dunno. Cadillac has been doing this for decades and show no sign of stopping. I had them in my Chevy Volt and they were infuriating.

You know how expensive it is to mold unique dedicated physical buttons for every function and then wire them all over the place?
Not expensive. You don’t have to “wire them all over the place”, you just put them on a PCB and connect them to the nearest CAN bus, or similar.
Given the current administration, I’d be very unsurprised if that disappears.
Which one is NOT on that list?
Been doing this with Jeeps already. They claimed it was a mistake.

Their new $85k Charger will surely save them…
Hyundai and now VW? Who’s next?
So buying a Tesla means you pay for features you can’t use without additional payment.
Most cars have this these days, unfortunately. At least you can purchase Tesla’s with a one-time payment where everyone else offers only subscriptions.
What if they are? Does FCC have the authority to force them to carry or promote “faith-based programming”?
As someone who runs a streaming service, I wouldn’t allow it.
Firefox? You mean the company they give several hundred million dollars/year? Yeah I don’t think they’re too worried. They need some number of users on Firefox to prevent anti-trust issues. Which they’re on the brink of right now.
BYD is Chinese. Very common there.
Not nearly as massive
No, defederation just means 1 instance chooses to stop communicating with another instance.
What is stopping corpos from scraping everyone’s posts and stuff from the fediverse and train their AI?
Nothing. And they already have.
What’s stopping them then, to create loads of not accounts and spam / disrupt smaller communities?
Moderation.
When an instances quality drops, the users may be more incentivised to migrate to bigger instances and go there.
Why would they do that when every instance has the same content?
Corpos can flood the fediverse with ads
I mean they can but no one would subscribe to them or share them, so no one would see them, so why would they bother making them?
about how certain countries behave. I feel the true evil are the corporates.
Sometimes the two are actually one in the same.
This says nothing about how they undercut Tesla (and every other non-Chinese automaker) but I’ll tell you:
“Creating your own feed” implements algorithms that surfaces content for you, rather than you having to go searching for it. I’ve already explained how Lemmy is different and I don’t know how to be clearer about that.
Why do so many people assume everyone on the Fediverse is a software developer?
I’m not sure what I’m understanding that’s markedly different from what we have here in terms of feeds
Well there’s only a handful of “algorithms” (if you can call them that) in Lemmy, created by the devs, and all of them are very basic. You cannot go and create your own feed and you cannot share that feed with anyone else.
I also thought Mastodon was just a chronological feed as well.
Yes that is the problem. Maybe not for you, but it is for many “normies”.
I don’t get the hype for Bluesky when it’s venture capital funded and eventually those VCs are going to want a return on investment.
I agree and was not trying to “hype” BSky. Just pointing out that fedi devs could take a page out of their book.
Fedi learned lots of things, but they haven’t learned about user-generated or shared feeds.
Or you could just raise the price of the car by $20 since you’ve just added thousands in value?
I mean shit, let’s take the seats out of the car! Bam! Just saved you billions, right? /s
