Good riddance. Sadly the internet knows no boundaries, but it’s a start at least.
Thanks for putting into perspective just how fucked the current situation in the US is.
God, I hate how this is accurate on both accounts. Fucking dog whistles…
What I was getting at is that fomestication tends to explode a specie’s numbers, which is generally to the detriment of the ecosystem’s balance. Regardless of them already being native of not.
Imagine boosting the number of eastern brown snakes (assuming you are Australian this would be a good example of a native predator) by a factor 5-10x. All hell would break loose, same as increasing the fox population in most countries they are native to, given how people would likely be inclined to treat them like cats and let them roam even when domestic.
Wow. I am shocked. Who could’ve guessed an expansionist regime would break a truce with the intent to continue their territorial expansion. This must be the first time in recorded history this has happened. /s
Counterpoint: I lived in Sweden and I miss that winter’s gloom. Sure, it’s dark before the snow falls but it gives you something to look forward to.
Sounds like Canada anywhere not near the ocean. I’m in that same boat, and I’ll happily trade the stupidly hot summers for two extra months of winter.
I miss the moderate summers of Scandinavia in that regard. Sure, it rained a lot, but at least you could go outside without roasting to a crisp in minutes during summer.
It’s both a shame and a good thing domesticated foxes are so rare, because on the one hand they are too cute and so pretty, but on the other hand I’d argue were better of not domesticating another species into a class of ecosystem threats (looking at domestic cats…)
So very true. Dressing for cold is so much easier than heat it’s mindboggling to read some of these summer fan comments. Like, do you guys actually live on the same planet as I do? Cause this one sucks the minute temperatures go past 20c.

“Just one more layoff. Just one more and I promise we’ll have Copilot reach AGI. We just need one more layoff to make the cost structure work. Please, just one more.”
I know by this point I should be numb to the shittiness of this administration, but every day they seem to find new ways to outdo their previous selves on both small and large issues to demonstrate that apparently they can still go lower. Whether it’s starting unprovoked wars, culling civil liberties, or discriminating against anyone and everything, every day is a new low.
Hey, I think I’m experiencing déjà vu. Wasn’t it Trump who cut pandemic preparedness last time too. You know, right before the last global pandemic that killed over a million Americans?
Man, that recollection by those survivors is some high octane nightmare fuel. I really hope more people made it out unscathed.
RATM continues to be as relevant as ever. Sadly.
It’s the same mindset that causes people to call every photo AI generated.
It’s almost like they’ve lost faith in human capabilities to the point of assuming humans are incapable altogether.
This is literally the same mindset that “aliens did it” conspiracy thinkers use, and I think it’s incredibly sad to see.
I don’t disagree with you on MacDonald’s track record. But in terms of significance to the country it’s hard to deny his influence. The country wouldn’t look anywhere like it does today, for example.
But sure, my point remains the same: If Carney actually passes voting reform it would propel him to one of the most significant PMs in the entire country’s history.
I know there’s a lot of folks you could list there that did great things for our country, but in my personal opinion changing how we elect our representatives is so fundamental to the functioning of the country not even universal health care compares.
Not saying I’d trade PR for healthcare though, in case someone were to propose that Faustian deal.
Having lived in both Squamish and Whistler while commuting to Vancouver on the regular: Yes please. Finally someone advocating for a common sense solution.
