SNP on the ups

Seen a similar bird here. Was just watching it sit on a rock next to a swift mountain river and it just jumped in face first. Crazy to see when not expected, but it popped up a few seconds later.

Yes but on a lighter note, these renderings of Tenochtitlan are the coolest: https://tenochtitlan.thomaskole.nl/
Definitely make a trip down asap, the overlay view is really cool if you’ve been there and have a bit of perspective on the city.

Fuck yeah! This one was close af (single-thousands of votes, which is why it took some time to finally be called). I thought it was going to be the outlier in this week’s blue/succdem wave, but it looks like it was pretty much a clean sweep. Fuck Schumer, he deserves worse than losing his job to AOC but I hope the date of establishment Dems are sealed.
(Liberals will probably elect Newsom and immediately forget to stand for everything, I shouldn’t kid myself). (Unless…)
Wilson is the co-founder and executive director of the Transit Riders Union, an advocacy group focused on public transit, as well as issues like affordable housing and stronger renter protections. She announced her intention to run for the Seattle lead in March after seeing recent voting trends pointing to Seattle residents being concerned about a lack of delivery on voters’ top concerns over the last four years, signaling a need for change of city leadership.

Yeah so go and meet them there and keep them moving along. Only a fool would expect a liberal to head for the mountains and join a Maoist militia the very first day after learning that people to the left of them aren’t so bad after all.
You don’t even have to join DSA to meet them, PSL and others often show up to the same protests and events in my town (as it should be). I guess I haven’t seen Greens so much, but WFP at least.

As it stands: bad guys win 10/10 of the simulations.

No yeah, none of the socdems are going to reverse the process, though. If they pull back military resources, they’re never getting that foothold back if they change their mind about it.

One thing sort of leads to the other, as we are discussing in this thread.
What also breaks the analogy is that the death star was destroyed into non-existence. The colonial entity should be destroyed, but the land itself will still exist after decolonization.

The ultimate shortcoming of social democratic reformism is that it is a project driven by the desire to add creature comforts to the Death Star.
This is correct, and it’s quite a silly little situation, but if the Death Star staff are discontented, it offers more opportunities for the rebellion to defend themselves from the death star, or maybe they forget how to keep the thing running altogether. It’s quite heartening from that point of view.

Newsom should have her on his podcast

It’s going to be cringy as hell from an anti-imperialist standpoint, but America going full Democratic socialist and redirecting resources from the military to social program would offer a lot of reprieve to the global south.

For those who don’t know, Portland switched to a ranked choice election with districts last year for city council. There is now a “progressive bloc” of 6/12 members, and 4 of those are part of an inner block of DSA candidates (not DSA-endorsed, but directly out of DSA).
Candace Avalos is one of the two non-DSA progressives…

The West coast smoke from 2020 was peaking around 700 iirc, and east coast last year was like 600

I think you start out with the community building, which will give you a platform to discuss specific political issues. If you want to connect with coworkers, invite them to meet up after work. If you want to connect with friends host a get together semi-regularly (board game night? Idk). If you want to connect with neighbors find community events and help organize them.
What you’ll find is people who want to connect, and from there you need to filter for the people who have an interest in what you have to say. Just wait for someone to say “Bernie/Zohran is pretty cool” and jump in from there: “yeah totally, we need universal healthcare at a bare minimum. I sometimes wonder who is going to bring that to our community and what that would look like (assuming you don’t live in VT or NYC)”
Just cultivate the good vibes and people will tolerate it when you offer a “hot take” here and there like “this Venezuela shit sucks” or “China is doing some interesting stuff, we are going to start missing out soon”. You don’t need to debate or explain everything you believe at once, just offer them license (someone link the relevant redsails pls, forgot which one) to believe the same thing. Probably won’t happen right away, but since our materialist outlook offers more clarity, it’s very likely they’ll come around over weeks/months. I’m surprised sometimes what people reflect back to me! But yeah, they will hear you and then see what you say confirmed in the world without you having to monitor it.
Before too long you get them to identify as “socialist” in some form and you can start drilling down to pull them away from pure social democracy.

Orgs with a more revolutionary orientation need to show up and recruit. That’s what happens in my city. PSL, DSA, CPUSA, and others are all tabling and canvassing at these marches.
Edit: inb4 “CPUSA/DSA are not revolutionary” cause that’s not the point. If you want to beat these orgs out too, show up and do a better job harnessing revolutionary energy than they do.

My impression of DSAers has been genuine people who want a better future, but most of them are not online and don’t have strong views on socialist sects and tendencies. Those of us who are nerds that are more versed in theory often talk about how socialism is a mass movement and we can’t gatekeep the revolution.
Because DSA folks don’t read the theory you see some boneheaded moves (less and less as the left actually gets a foothold), and due to the political climate in American occupied territories, the left in general has a labor aristocratic class character (to be very polite about it).
It’s not like there’s an alternative anyway.

inshallah

West coast holds that territory and beefs up defenses at the Cascades/Sierra Nevada’s, and maybe a bit farther (as is reasonable.
Cede the territory to make peace with one adjoining country and get the new economy started while the other factions figure out something more complicated.
I often think about this when walking around my neighborhood and constantly being barked at by peoples’ dogs when I walk past houses. I don’t notice it as much when I travel, people walk their dogs around and they don’t turn their heads for anything.
US-Americans are skeptical of fucking anything going on past their doorstep, including their own neighbors casually walking on the sidewalk, so of course it rubs off on the dogs and they’re antisocial AF.
