Honestly, that’s a fair reason. Tchncs.de already hosts so many services that the added overhead of another subdomain wouldn’t be worth it.
hitstun@fedia.ioto Fedibridge@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Quick comment to copy-paste to promote Lemmy3·18 days agoI guess it didn’t matter that much. When linking Lemmy threads to non-Lemmy users, I like using Photon because it looks nice by default. I get to recommend an instance this way, so I could look up the post on photon.reddthat.com and link to that post on that instance. I really want to recommend sopuli.xyz or tchncs.de this way, but no Photon.

Excellent picks. I’d put https://reddthat.com/ right up there with them. Too bad those two don’t host Photon. Sopuli doesn’t support gifs, and nobody on discuss.online visits my two main communities. Those are my only nitpicks with them. They’re very good.

Just messing around on here and playing [email protected] and [email protected] while I’m waiting for my turn at the DMV. If I can find good art of Luigi Mangione flying with a balloon or something, I’ll post it my old subreddit.
You got Nicoled. There’s a community for this now, so post it there instead. [email protected]
would’ve been fun if the local magazines were somewhat more active.
I originally chose Kbin/Mbin over Lemmy because of the added support for Mastodon-like posts, but it’s still suffers from wonky early adopter stuff. I still rather like Mbin’s interface more than Lemmy’s defaults, though Lemmy’s support for third party front ends is very cool. Whichever way you go, I’m happy that Mbin and Lemmy have access to all the same content. Mbin could grow more if some of a magazine’s custom CSS could federate to other instances, or if it supported bots like Lemmy.
Oh dang, I’m gonna have to look into PieFed, though. That looks good! I’d like to see how my community looks, but I think a registered piefed.social user has to do this community lookup for federation to begin.
I’m glad more people are putting alt text on art posts now. It’s actually helpful. Sometimes it points out details I didn’t spot, like the ghost cat in the picnic basket.
