Also if China tried to flex that kind of power I find it hard to believe the US wouldn’t start a war over that either. The US is itching to pull the trigger and I will not fault anyone who is trying to avoid war, especially knowing it would be a horrific WW3 situation

The paradigm we are taught is that if oppressed people are “deserving” enough and suffer to a sufficient degree our kind-hearted overlords will change things and “make them right.” We are taught that liberation rests upon the goodness of our rulers and it is not up to us regular people to decide.

Directness necessitates subtlety and nuance. You are making big claims about “good art” and what it entails, but I don’t see how something must be satire or indirect to accomplish this. I don’t even think satire is inherently bad, but I think it’s pretty clear what purpose it serves in the modern world since it’s massive proliferation in the 20th century.

Also, people don’t misunderstand art because they are “dumb.”

You say yourself that fascism is creeping in again; fascism is capital’s response to mortal threat. Things are not going well for the west, 2008 was a mortal wound that is still bleeding out the US world order. The new world struggles to be born, shouldn’t that be reason for optimism?

I think you could argue that fascism is more generally the capitalist response to existential threats, which historically was domestic socialist and communist movements, but this definition leaves space to potentially include the present day US. Also, there is an interesting thread to pull relating to how the Trump admin is responding to crises borne out of the contradictions of neoliberalism, which in itself is a form of anticommunist repression created (in part) in response to the domestic socialist movements of the early 20th century.
