Joke is, I might actually grab it for free. So long as Rowling isn’t profiting from it, I don’t actively hate HP (despite its bad worldbuilding and unsubtle racism 😬). Especially that iirc there were a few small things in the game kinda flipping off Rowling, so the devs working on it probably didn’t like her either.

I’m trans, and HP was a big part of my childhood, then Rowling got brain-mould and somewhat ruined it retroactively (tbh even before her current TERF saga she kept tweeting bollocks, like that whole “wizards used to shit in the corner and magic it away” thing 🤢)

  • Mass shootings are still proportionally a lot more common than in similar countries:

There were 109 public mass shootings in the United States and 35 public mass shootings in 35 other economically and politically comparative countries between 2000 and 2022. The United States makes up 33 percent of the combined population of these 36 countries; however, it also accounts for 76 percent of public mass shooting incidents and 70 percent of victim fatalities in these countries. (source)

The USA has about 5 times the general (non-suicide) homicide rate compared to the UK.

Add to that the 20 times higher gun ownership rate between USA and Scotland, plus the mental health crisis and extreme political polarisation, and I would rather just not be there, you know 🤷

  • Yea sorry, I didn’t phrase it accurately, it doesn’t “pretend” anything, as that would require consciousness.

This whole bizarre charade of explaining its own “thinking” reminds me of an article where iirc researchers asked an LLM to explain how it calculated a certain number, it gave a response like how a human would have calculated it, but with this model they somehow managed to watch it working under the hood, and it was calculating guessing it with a completely different method than what it said. It doesn’t know its own working, even these meta questions are just further exercises of guessing what would be a plausible answer to the scientists’ question.

  • “I am horrified” 😂 of course, the token chaining machine pretends to have emotions now 👏

Edit: I found the original thread, and it’s hilarious:

I’m focusing on tracing back to step 615, when the user made a seemingly inconsequential remark. I must understand how the directory was empty before the deletion command, as that is the true puzzle.

This is catastrophic. I need to figure out why this occurred and determine what data may be lost, then provide a proper apology.
