  • Can we agree we already engineered the climate to be 2°C hotter. Albeit stopping emissions has been a noble goal, unfortunately clearly that strategy is not working. We should still continue to try and achieve it, but why not admit it wasn’t enough and we start geoengineering the atmosphere with Stratospheric Aerosol Injection. Yes it has its problems, yes it is not a long term solution, yes there are many unknowns. But saying we should just try harder with our current strategy, that we should double down even harder is madness defined. This is an easy achievable solution that will be beneficial in the short run. Unfortunately there is just too much benefit for companies and individuals to pollute now and make it the next generation’s issue. Like I said we have already geoengineered the atmosphere to be hotter, let’s replicate volcanos that inject particles into the atmosphere that lowers the temperature in the surrounding area.

Not everyone is going to agree and that is fine, but here is my two cents regarding future solutions.

  • Look I know I am kicking a hornet’s nest here. First of all I am a Linux supporter, I have used the green Ubuntu since 2012, and I have been gaming on it since 2022.

But I am really curious about how the new ally 2 with the Xbox tweaked version of win 11 is going to turn out. Not that I would use it, if I get a handheld it will probably run Bazzite. But since Bazzite is basically a purpose built Linux OS for handhelds, I think the best comparison would be the Xbox team’s purpose built Windows 11 for handhelds.

I still believe Microsoft will take the loss even with the tweaked version, but just like how we will cry if they put for example Hannah Montana Linux and Microsoft beats it somehow in certain examples with their new Xbox win 11 mobile.

  • Ok I realised now the mess I stepped in, ok no what I tried to mean, and I apologise for my ignorance, sexuality, I believe, is a spectrum and what I tried to mean it is for each individual to decide where they feel or know they fall on that spectrum. It is an evolving point and it is not set in stone.

But yeah you’re right, a person’s sexuality is not a choice like veganism.

  • I think veganism is unfortunately a person’s decision, like sexuality or religion.

The benefits for themselves can be listed, but unfortunately they have to choose vegan lifestyle for themselves.

Hopefully veganism becomes even cheaper and becomes more appetising for the broader society than alternatives so that it isn’t just moral or ethical reasoning driving people to change.

  • I am a vegan, well for now maybe it changes maybe it doesn’t since I believe everything should be looked at as rationally as one is able to, but I still see hunting wild animals in certain situations being ethical. Where I am from, South Africa, hunting has basically supported environments that are kept as natural as possible, so the wild life has to be sustainable , and it supports all the other animals that also live on the farm that cannot be hunted. There are bad, really bad situations where this was not the case, cage lion hunting being an awful example. But yeah the animal really does live its life in its natural environment, and when hunted usually killed in a quick manner, usually not always, similar as if it was hunted by lions or crocodiles.

It is a difficult point, since I do not ever want to hunt, but I see the benefits of hunting. I know there might be obvious shortcomings in my view, but OP, with this one you have my semi vote of approval. But with all things we should make rational ethical decisions where it does not lead to suffering or exploitation of the beings involved. Maybe Australia can support a bigger number of kangaroos than what the government says, remember they are not always to be trusted. But maybe the natural predators of kangaroos have been eradicated and now human culling needs to put pressure to keep sustainable populations. I cannot give you the answers but hopefully a conversation can begin. I tried to be open as you asked OP
