I’ve never watched one second of Ethan Klein but I turned his embarrassing “debate” with Sam Seder on, so my very first perception is hearing him brag about being “99.3% Ashkenazi”… and when Sam says he’s part Sephardic he gives the most patronizing “that’s nice, good for you, I think that’s great actually” what a fucking racist creep
obviously I’m aware that he is not Palestinian and that he was born in a settler-colonialist entity. I asked about his beliefs
honest question - what has Druckman said that makes him a “massive Zionist”? (I don’t know anything about the guy other than he was born in the occupied west bank* and lived there as a young child)
*edit: actually he was born in Tel Aviv and his family moved to the west bank, not that it makes much of a difference

tech optimism was at an all time high in the early-to-mid 10s and Elon was the epic rocket ship guy making electric cars. people watched Iron Man in 2008 and genuinely believed that CEOs were super geniuses inventing shit in their garages. the Obama era was one of incredibly naive liberalism. before 2015, practically nobody was engaged in political discourse outside of chuds calling Obama a gay muslim
I’m old enough to have a good sense of what I like and don’t like, so it’s pretty easy to determine what’s actually worth checking out. I don’t care if something is popular or even widely acclaimed, if it’s not aligned with my personal taste then I usually won’t bother. recommendations from other people are only worthwhile if they are actually taking my interests into account, but too many people just recommend stuff they like, which, okay, that’s great but my taste is not your taste
though sometimes I do try to step outside of my comfort zone to expand my media understanding, but it usually just ends up confirming what I already knew. I watched the Spider-Verse movies to see what all the hype was about and was unimpressed. I watched In The Mood For Love because it’s one of the most highly acclaimed romantic drama films of all time and it had no impact on me because I’m just not interested in heterosexual romance. it’s still sometimes worth doing though, because there are surprises - I didn’t expect to like A Real Pain but it was one of my favorite movies of last year
