the thing is; the more westminster refuses to even consider it even though the majority for pro independence parties grows larger each election, you leave scotland with no choice but to seek independence in other ways.

YouGov polling for Scottish independence has consistently had remaining in the UK leading by 9-11% for a while now.

I’m not really seeing Kier driving Scotland towards anything. It’s been broadly the same for a few years now. He’s not driving Scots towards remaining in the UK or to Scexit.

If Novara Media’s editorial position is that Scotland should have another referendum then fair enough, but I’m not really seeing good data on Kier causing a sudden surge in support for independence.

For what it’s worth, FindOutNow thinks a slim victory for Scexit is on the cards, but I don’t consider them a serious polling company… They’re the same ones that put Reform way ahead of everyone else in polls, despite other pollsters having them in line with Labour/Conservatives. I genuinely think they aim to have results that get desired headlines (their funding model is, after all, to have polls commissioned by media companies).

Fair enough. We had our chance in 2016 to bring back a bit of postwar britain, and we decided to elect a “lovable” corrupt muppet instead. Self-inflicted.

Given Salmond has died, Sturgeon retired, and 2014 was pre-brexit, pre Truss, pre Boris, pre Starmer. We have at least had a political generation between 2014 and today. With the orange goon at the helm of tanking the world, the timing isn’t great for independence, but who knows when a vote would be held, and how long negotiations would take either.

But Scotland will rejoin the EU. That’s it, that’s the selling point, the only reason to campaign on. We’ll setup Pound Scots and peg to the euro to enable transition as soon as we are able, to answer the next inevitable question.

Who will head this campaign? Can’t see Swinney leading it. Will Starmer acquiesce to this request? Can’t see him currently doing so, but also can’t see him making it through another GE currently, except of course the Tories are looking even more hopeless right now.

With Holyrood going to the polls next year, an independence majority is again likely. A request for a referendum is likely to be made again. Could Starmer grant one to settle this matter forever ala Quebec? Will Labour be able to refuse one given the kicking they are going to receive?

The man fundamentally opposed to privacy, but no idea what he is for, will allow Scotland to be independent and out of his absolute micro-managing control?
