I’m guessing those become floofy dandy-lions, and that’s why there’re butterflies. Onbviously, because the kitties first need to create a shell around themselves, them they become soup and then re-form as dandy li’l lions.

I interpreted them to be Willow Catkins, not cotton balls.
Not sure which the artist intended.Edit: they are indeed supposed to be Willow Catkins, no no kitty harm here :)
