minus-squaredependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.delinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up61·1 month agoI mean 122,000 out of 60 million isn’t a lot. Could likely get 5 million to say banning people based on colour is a good idea, but I don’t agree.
minus-squaregarbagebagel@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up14·1 month agoOnly need 500 (out of 40mil) + one MP sign off for the government to legally have to respond in Canada. They don’t have to say yes but they have to officially acknowledge you at least. I was pretty surprised by how low that threshold is.
minus-squareBeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up10·1 month agoIt’s only like 10k here too, but the response is always “we have no plans to change anything”
minus-squarecopd@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3arrow-down1·1 month agowhy are you including infants amd people without the right to vote in your figure? there’s less than 48mill who can vote btw
minus-squareTrackinDaKraken@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9arrow-down13·1 month agoThat’s not the point. The point of this post is that the government didn’t respond.
minus-squaredependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.delinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up37·1 month agoI read that as the governments response was no. Not that they didn’t respond. The government in the UK will respond if 10,000 signatures and will debate in parliament if 100,000 signatures.
minus-squareEcho Dot@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 month agoSo they’re going to debate it then because it’s definitely over 100,000.
