I get the base mechanics of a fighting game but my brain and hands are fundamentally incompatible with learning combos for anything among pretty bad tendon pain and RSI and general stiffness.

Destrega is perfect for me because it has all the essence there but the controls don’t expect me to be playing OSU on a fightpad at 3 billion kpm until my fingers fall off.

Anyone ever played this game? Its a really fun magic based brawler that I kind of wish existed today. I also beat my brother at it who is a massive fighting game nerd hehe

never heard of it, have some

    unsolicited device advice

you might have a better time with a different input device, gamepads are definitely rough for some motions. people do all kinds of weird custom jobs too, literally taping arcade switches into cardboard boxes all the way up to 3D printing and carpentry.

if your computer keyboard has good ergos for you you could try using that and search around for button layouts people use for leverless

Me and a friend rented this game and it to this day is the best dragon ball fighting game.

In that it matches what we wanted out of a dragon ball game of throwing energy blasts at each other and seeing who can win.

Also very funny boob physics because it was the late 90s.

I love fighting games. Grew up playing MK and Soul Calibur when it came out. Was GOAT’ed as a kid up into my teens.

Then, late during puberty, my fingers started getting twitchy and stiff. My reaction times were tanking. My ability to pull off complex combos slowly disappeared.

Turns out I have CMT and my hobbies (gaming, guitar, sketching, etc …) caused me to develop radial tunnel syndrome from always having my arms bent for extended periods due to how the disease affects the myelin sheath, lowering its elasticity. Neurologist that diagnosed me described it as being “kinked like a garden hose”, disconnecting it from the rest of my forearm and causing atrophy of the muscles and nerve endings. Even surgery couldn’t fix what had been done.

Never really did get a chance to play any of the DBZ fighter games.

I have a trapped nerve in my shoulder that makes playing fps on mouse only doable for about 30 minutes. I used to be a quake nerd but I can barely aim anymore and am relegated to controller for most games but my fingers are sluggish as all hell.

Sorry to hear about that comrade. I also loved soul calibre I used to repeat the arcade mode on loop it clicked with me a lot. Played a silly amount of tekken as well but never got good. Dead or alive was good fun as well. It’s sad that a lot of the things I once enjoyed are no longer playable :(

Oh Gods, I miss Quake lobbies.

I can’t do FPS games on PC anymore cause I physically cannot lift my index finger on the left hand, so I can’t use WASD.

I mean, I can kinda play by lifting my finger with my thumb but that only works in single player games; can’t be competitive with a handicap like that though.

Oh another thing I’ve been having problems with my elbows recently do you think it could be something similar? I can’t rest my elbows on anything because my hands will go numb

Probably not similar. Radial tunnel specifically affects the forearm and finger extension, not feeling in the hands. Didn’t develop numbness until later and isn’t tied to if I’m resting my elbow on things, it’s just from the atrophying.

Also not a doctor, could be a number of things wrong, or could just be the way you’re resting on your arms cutting off blood flow or slightly pinching the nerve and making it go numb
