I’m right there with you. I’ve never seen anything in SC2 referred to as “period count”. My guess is that it means tick rate. So my guess is this says new storm will do damage every 0.39956 seconds down from 0.7994, and then period count maybe means it does damage 12 times instead of 6.
I understand what the initial changes were to storm, I was asking specifically about these additional changes that refers to specific mechanics that I’ve never seen before.
The initial change was super bugged because they didn’t handle the ticks correctly, this basically fixes that. Aside from the radius increase, I think the other storm changes are only bug fixes from the previous PTR. IMO they made the patch changes too technical, should’ve just said “fixed bugs from last PTR”. Really we just need to know what’s changed compared to the stable release. I think it might tick faster than the stable release now so it might be better than half DPS?
This is now 130 damage across about 6 seconds, instead of 80 damage across less than 3 seconds. So I guess this is like 75% of the original DPS.
Mana shows storm at the start of his video, in unit tester. ZombieGrub talks about it starting at 2min in her video.
I hate this, I’d rather have jargon that can gain meaning later rather than the vague “various bugfixes and improvements” we get from mobile app updates.
I mean if you’re talking about notes of release->release sure, but when it’s an alpha test patch that only existed for 2 days, I’m not sure the details are that important, just tell us the difference from the release version
Oops we messed that one up, ignore that last patch, here is what’s different from the release version:
Is really all that needs to be said, or an explanation so normal players are capable of reading it, but they went for the worst of both worlds lol
Can someone explain what those specific storm changes mean?

I saw someone came up with these numbers:
I guess the previous PTR was supposed to be 14 dps, but it was bugged so it probably didn’t even reach that

Basically the DPS is lower than the current stable patch, but it lasts longer and it’s bigger, you really need to move out of it

Thanks for the insight on how PTR storm works!
