I think it’s this Implement donation dialog #3034: “Adds a donation dialog which gets shown to users once a year”
Added in Lemmy v0.19.11 released April 2025. If it happens once a year I guess not everyone’s time has come yet.
Suggests a question though, who does pay for hexbear? Probably doesn’t cost too much to run, might just be handled informally.
That makes sense, I have seen it probably 10+ times today though fwiw.
I think one of the admins does but I forget which. I want to say 50~ euros/month but maybe its more.
