AWS CEO Andy Jassy bragged that the company's adoption of AI agents meant that it would "need fewer people" doing the same jobs.

“It remains unclear which roles were affected by the layoffs.”

I’m not a fan of AI or layoffs, but this whole article is just speculation.

The same company that said they’ll replace most workers with robots within 5-10 years? Lol yeah that’s not happening with this level of technological progrsss.

It’ll be as probable if they said they’ll replace the humans with summened servants from the underworld. A fairytale :)

I mean, if hell was real I could totally imagine one of our billionaires trying to open up a portal to it for cheap labor like it was Doom or something

Doom was a documentary from another dimension.

industrial robotics is a much more solved problem than tech infrastructure automation

Its already happening. Look up dark factories in china. Everyone thinking this isnt coming has their heads in the sand.

How is that different to production in the last 20 years in the industrialized countries? Unlike China, people cost a whole lot there, so they automated decades ago.

Thete are still people in those factory. There arent in dark factories. Thats why theyre dark. Entire factories filled with robots working in the dark with the lights off because there are no humans.

Sure, except that lighting is super cheap compared to everything else, which is why nobody would bother to do that. Humans still need to be around to fix stuff etc. But let’s be real, what are “entire factories” and how should they operate without humans? Sounds more like manipulative “news”.

Wasn’t this posted about a few days ago, where there is no evidence of this? That dubious insiders claim this didn’t happen at all?
