Fascism is obviously spreading all over the Nazi-infested West. Is it a pipe dream to flee to China or is it worth starting to learn some Chinese?
Is anyone seriously making moves to try?
Yea but this is something that kinda just fell into my lap. I’m at the end of a STEM degree with a minor in Chinese and have 3 years worth of language learning.
I visited Beijing over the summer and I wouldn’t call myself fluent but was able to hold conversations with most people and probably would have been able to get by eventually if I stayed.
The only reason I would probably be able to move there is because they opened up K Visas for STEM majors and my language proficiency.
I know the K visa is supposed to be for “young STEM” people, but as far as I could read, there wasn’t any sort of age restriction. Been thinking of getting a second degree in Comp Sci to take advantage of it tbh. Sounds like a good deal, even if temporarily.
It also requires being from a “recognized university”, which might mean HYPSM, T20, T50, or just accreditation. I’d imagine it’s more focused on the T20/HYPSM schools, because companies will probably only hire foreign applicants who are notably better than Chinese ones. Chinese education is significantly harder and more competitive than American education, and the bottom ~20% of young Chinese STEM degree holders are unemployed, so the competition is very stiff without strong name recognition.
Uh I think it might have been for people below 40? Not sure on that though.
Maybe more info came out after the initial announcement. Thats still a pretty generous range though.
I haven’t seen new info on it. Might be up to the discretion of the embassy to decide if you fall into a grey area.
You may actually experience a decrease in quality of life if you work as a programmer in china
If you want to go to China you can’t really “flee” there, you need a visa to enter the country and you won’t be able to work and make money unless you have a bachelor’s degree and get hired by a Chinese company or have enough money to start your own “wholly foreigned owned enterprise” and essentially hire yourself and give yourself a work visa that way.
Nah I’m not rich enough. I doubt China has good Mexican food anyway.
If I land a job there, I’d move. I’ve applied to a number of Chinese companies, or companies with a large Chinese presence, but I haven’t got any bites.
I took Chinese classes, but that was quite a while ago and non-Latin language skills decay very quickly without practice. I’d probably have to learn most of it all over again.
Im just waiting to get shoved onto the train to the autism concentration camp.
Move to China to do what?
To have a life separated from fascist crackers, who are in the middle of devouring themselves and everyone around them in multiple western countries.
Not yet bro but i dont cap
I am because I met someone there, going to try to make it work. Second time I’ve been there. At least for the remaining Trump years.
