Hopefully none of you need to put up with your reactionary families for to long today, but of you do, feel free to vent here!

My parents are so reactionary that they’re isolating themselves from parts of our extended family. I’ve been going to holidays with the better side for years and I can tell it’s bugging my mom in particular, but it turns out that holidays are a lot more enjoyable and I’m a lot more talkative when they aren’t around.

This thanksgiving I’m working hard to still try to set a precedent I am a grown adult worthy of respect. This transcends politics to some extent. I’m on Mac and Cheese duty after being encouraged to do so by someone I used to date (but we agreed to keep things platonic, the spark just wasn’t there.) Also offering to help with the dishes after the meal. Bringing an item as if I was living on my own AND helping out with dishes is a good start. If the humiliation ritual begins, I’m gassing up my most recent interview.

This is more of a personal struggle rather than a political one. I just want to be taken seriously as an adult, no matter how much it feels like adulthood has been denied to me.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the only time were watching “normal” TV. Trying to save a buck I subbed to Peacock at the basic level, only to discover after they lock it behind premium. Naturally. So I upgrade to premium but naturally they just charge you again lol. So $18 for the parade. Disgusting.

Jellyfin can handle live TV, so I’m going to start trying to figure out what equipment I need to make that happen.

The pie isn’t solidifying fast enough! COOL DOWN YOU JIGGLY FUCK

Oh also my sister’s mother-in-law has some incredible climate denial brainworms. Last time I learned that the ice caps are melting because China’s Three Gorges Dam has thrown the Earth off of its axis of rotation. Yes yes very reasonable mhmm.

I don’t have to put up with reactionary family because what I said last year got us disinvited from Thanksgiving this year and you know what? I was still holding back and that was still enough to send my chud older cousin to his room for a tantrum over getting some pushback against his bullshit about immigration and fentynol

First time in like 2 decades that I get to spend today not around family. I’m nursing a horrible hangover and eating veggies and rice.

I also posted one of my yearly “fuck this genocidal settler colonist state” post on FB this morning. I think this year’s was a banger.

Unless I’m actually FB friends with a fellow comrade on here I doubt there is any chance of doxxing me. This is the text:

        Happy Thanksgiving.

This country was founded on genocide, slavery and oppression. And it still operates under this capacity. Both the Democrats and Republicans are actively supporting and funding the Gazan Genocide. Your Starbucks coffee’s beans are harvested by child slaves. The US hegemony is responsible for 10’s of millions of deaths every decade it still exists. We live in the wealthiest nation on the planet but have the highest rates of incarceration in the world. We have the highest rates of homelessness and our current solution is to put the unhoused into concentration camps instead of building houses for them or expropriating the empty houses that have been bought up by billionaires, thus causing this current housing crisis that is mirroring the housing bubble of 2008. We have the best medical science in the West but our health is locked out by subscritions and paywalls that masquerade as insurance that most of the working class can’t even afford. And our drinking water is in crisis because the Oligarchy we live under is controlled by the same tech billionaires that think we need more AI data centers instead of having our basic needs met.

A better future is possible, but not under this system. A better future starts with landback, reparations, and the egalitarian treatment of all people.

A cousin started being misogynistic while I was cutting pickles for a dish (with a giant cleaver), I made full eye contact without blinking and kept asking his wife how she felt about it

I was doing fine, just laying in bed and watching football, then the game ended and I saw everyone eating and having a good time and the bleakness of my life just washed over me like a wave.
