I’m praying for Chile, expecting Spain, and dreading Nazi Germany.

But fascists lose in the end. The question is just how many of us non-fascists will suffer and/or die before that happens.

There’s really only one parallel that matters here: There’s nobody with the ability and/or willingness to invade America and depose the fascists. Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany’s natural lifespans were cut short by WWII, but there’s simply no Poland for America to invade and no Soviet Union to invade them back. I also have zero faith in the American public to wrangle power away from fascists if they’re successful in their coup, so the only possible end for a fascist America would be running its natural lifespan, which is a lot more than the dozen years or so Nazi Germany survived.

Edit: I meant Spain in the sense of long-lived fascism, not “nice” fascism. I strongly doubt MAGA America will be anywhere near as nice as Franco’s Spain.
