There was a long period in which most RPGs were “action RPGs.” Sometimes those were actual RPGs (e.g. Mass Effect), but often they were action games with some light RPG elements. Turn based never really died, but for the last 15 or 20 years it’s been broadly considered a very very niche genre with absolutely no mass appeal potential. It’s nice to see that shifting.
I thought most RPGs were turn based? I am out of the loop so perhaps I was wrong.
