It’s interesting, because Americans will be laughing at an entirely different interpretation of the joke, like “lol the Soviets think American reality is American propaganda because our lives are so great.”

But if we just pump more language into them surely they will become sentient /s
They will continue to be the most depraved country and still claim to be the most moral, with full belief.
But did you go to Paris
Is that not the usual definition?
My first calculus class was in 2018 or 2019 and before they taught us any of the derivative rules they showed us the first principles derivation, so the fact that they just skipped right to the shortcuts for you is wack. For us it was more of “this is how you find the equation for the slope of a line at any point. But guess what, here’s some rules so you don’t have to do this squeeze formula every time!”
That would be to calque!
A calque is when a term is translated word by word into a new language. And a loan word is when a word or words are directly taken as-is. In fact, this means that loanword (from German lehnwort) is a calque, while calque (from French) is a loanword :D
Don’t think of it like learning letters, think of it like learning words.
Unlike translate, transliterate means to convert from one writing system to another. The user is asking you how you write that in latin letters, probably so they can have some idea at all about how to pronounce it.
That last part.
Is there such a thing as unhinged benevolence? That’s awesome
My parents are constantly pushing me to own a car.
I have a license because it is a convenient all-in-one piece of ID. I abstain from car ownership because cars fucking suck. They’re expensive to buy, expensive to insure, expensive to maintain, expensive to run, expensive to drive, and you can’t even use your phone* while going places. Car ownership is just overall a bad deal. I’m much happier taking public transit, even if it sucks ass and is twice as slow to get anywhere.
*If you unironically counter this point you should be prevented from ever getting behind a wheel for the rest of your life. Fuck you for putting my and other people’s lives in danger for your own convenience.
Taking a natural language question and providing a foothold on a subject by giving you the vocabulary so that you can research a topic on your own.
“What is it called when xyz.”

And thus we see why UBI will never be a solution. You need an overwhelming political movement by the people outside the electoral system. And if you can force through UBI, why would you, when the people could actually take the reins.
Also there is no “point of no return.” Every extra kilogram of CO2 is an extra small increase in temperature. The more we emit, the worse it gets. It’s not on-off.
Love how when someone has issues with Linux but not Windows somehow it’s pebkac. Classic annoying Linux user response.
Yeah I’m sure at least some of the people in the hospital weren’t Israeli
