You cannot eat money.”

Omg there’s a community for this???
Well that’s both confusing and fascinating - so it’s basically quantum Russian roulette
I think people seriously misinterpret what “observation” means on a quantum level. I think a better term would be “interact” - you cannot observe something without interacting with it in some way (e.g. a photon hitting it). In that sense, the interaction is what collapses the wavefunction, not whether or not you are present to observe it.
Most traffic jams actually act as a kind of compression wave moving backwards through traffic. Something as small as a squirrel running across the road can cascade into an hour-long jam.
One person brakes, then the person behind them, then the person behind them, but each time they are getting closer to each other (nobody stays equidistant from the car in front of them when braking). This causes a greater and greater slowdown as more cars are compacted into a tighter space, which travels backwards in traffic like a wave. Often the person who caused it doesn’t even realize anything happened.
A lot of mapping software actually estimates a given traffic slowdown by treating traffic as a fluid with a wave moving backwards through it.
This is stunning!!
I would so frame this and hang it in my living room
Someone citing actual facts on the internet?! Impossible!!
I can definitely think of an unpleasant shit, so…yes?
I think it should have been after the last message, damned thing caused me to laugh before the punchline
So much this - as someone who lives in the US, I find some solace discussing matters with people who don’t, because apart from a few exceptions, it’s exactly like you said. There is no critical thinking, only “winning”. I try to stay grounded and remind myself that I’m not insane by interacting outside of the US.
It’s incredibly demoralizing watching the people around you actively support a fascist pedophile simply out of a complete unwillingness to admit they were wrong. Even people who I know are legitimately very intelligent cannot admit they could ever be wrong when it comes to politics specifically, and are willing to make a complete fool of themselves in the process of trying to “win”.
And no wonder, we have a culture that actively conditions that into people. It’s all about “owning the [insert political party here]”. There is no compromise, no mutual understanding, no learning, and no changing of minds. Just endless, spiteful arguing while we slowly get fucked by the rich.
I’m convinced it’s completely intentional. Americans are stupid because they’re trained to be.
Beautiful! I love the vibrancy and the fluid motion throughout the piece; I can’t stop looking at it!
Thanks for not censoring the company name so I know who to avoid
If you’re looking for privacy, I highly recommend (weirdly enough) a Google Pixel. With GrapheneOS it’s way more secure and private than basically anything else on the market.
